Wink Calin's WRB Subaru BRZ :)

I bought my car a little over 2 weeks ago and put a few mods on it. So I thought I'd make a thread to keep track of the mods. I have a few more things that I plan on doing to the car, so I'll update this thread as the mods come in. As soon as my stock tires wear out, I'll be getting some new wheels. I'll probably also get an exhaust soon. I'm just trying to decide which one I want. Enjoy the pics!

1-16-13

Here's my old Fiat 500 trade-in and my new BRZ at the dealership before I signed the contract. Out with the old, and in with the new

Only 5 miles on her

1-18-13

Still stock

1-19-13

This picture was taken right after installing the Sportline springs. It took a few days for them to fully settle, so it's a little lower now than it in in the picture.

I didn't take a picture of the lights themselves, but I replaced the interior dome light, door lights and also the trunk light to bright white LEDs. Looks much better than the stock yellowish lights in my opinion.

1-22-13

I wrapped my dash plastic pieces and the door handle trim with 3M carbon fiber Dinoc vinyl. Since then, I also wrapped the silver piece that surrounds the shift knob.

I don't have a picture of them installed. Blurry picture...meh...

1-31-13

After lowering the car, the wheels sunk in a bit and looked a bit funny. So I got some Eibach spacers to fix that. 25mm rear and 20mm front. I think I actually could have done a 30mm rear, but I just played it safe. I'll get some new wheels after I wear out the stock tires, but this is a quick fix until then

before and after front:

before and after rear:

Whole car after spacers

Also debadged the rear emblems!

Thanks! Today was the first time I took it to 7,400 RPM and it felt really nice. I love how much the car opens up after 5,000 RPM. The sound is definitely a nice addition too. Unfortunately it rained today so I couldn't push the car too hard, but I can't wait to take it on a few curvy roads next week when the weather is nicer. I'll try to make a nice video too

I just got another mod in the mail today! I bought a WORKS drop-in filter. Although I'm going to wait to install it until after I get a baseline dyno done. After that, I'll install a few power mods. I'm a little worried about doing a dyno with only 1,000 miles on the engine. Would it be safe to dyno it now? Or should I wait until after my first oil change at 3,500 miles? The dealership talked me out of doing a 1,000 mile oil change today lol.

My dealer talked me out of changing my first oil when I had 1,500 miles. I regretted it, the sooner you change the oil the better. As a matter of fact, I would NOT dyno the car until you change your motor oil because of the metal shavings that are inside. That first ever oil change I did was not very pretty I tell ya....

Suby dealers won't do the service until your scheduled mileage is reached. I tried and they told me to wait when I hit 3000.

Are you planning to change your tranny / diff fuilds as well?
I think its better to wait until fluid change before a dyno, who know's how dirty the fluids are.

At how many miles did you do the first oil change? The metal shavings are exactly the reason I'm scared to dyno the car now. So I guess I'll wait a while to do that.

My dealer told me they'll do the first oil change at 1,000 miles if I really want to, but they recommend waiting until the recommended 3,500.

My dealer told me the same thing. They said that they would do it whenever I want, but I backed out not because they talked me out of it, but because they promised me a free 'conventional oil change' which I thought they meant free oil change but our cars use synthetic oil which is not free.

Anyway, I did my first oil change around 2,500 miles-ish? Dont wait ever, just change it and then once that first one is taken care of you dont have to worry anymore.

Thanks for the info! Maybe I'll go back to the dealership soon and just have it done so I don't have to worry about it like you said.

FWIW, the factory specified interval is 7500 miles.
