Very sexy. Best one I've seen in the thread.

Sadly I have not owned one, an AE92 yes, but no AE86. Most in my area are complete rustbuckets or projects and are priced entirely too high for what they are. I wish I could come across one in good shape.

I did, however, learn to drive stick in an '84 SR5 that a friend of mine owned.

I tried to go to counseling, I tried to avoid it. I even got the FRS hoping it will fill the void.

As many AE86 past/current owners can vouch for this, there is just something about this car. Something that keeps making me go back to it.

I picked up another one... for a project. An 84 SR5 which will need pretty much everything. Let the fun begin!

I've never owned one, but i have driven a couple

coolest experience i've ever had...

It was raining outside and I was getting ready to leave where i was at when a AE 86 pulls in to park next to me.

Me and the other owner chatted for a bit, then he threw me the keys and told me "instead of talking about the 86 drift heritage, you tell me if it's carried on into the new 86"

we swapped cars for about 5 minutes taking advantage of the rainy day and the empty parking lot...

by far one of the coolest experiences in my life, he thought it was pretty cool to drive my car too lol

There is something that was defiantly felt between the two cars. The transition between AE86 to the GT86 was like falling in love for the first time again...

both are different in their ways but at the end of the day you get the same feeling from both... maybe one day ill restore an 86...

I still have mine but its a rust bucket as well so I turned it into an ice racer. Has a kaaz 2 way diff, TRD springs, Camaro rear shocks, modified knuckles, and is totally gutted with a cage.

Very cool. One word of advice regarding restoring an 86. Get one now, don't wait too long or else....a lot of pure AE86 owners won't want to let go of their Hachirokus.

First of all, nice GT-APEX you had there Tak!
Those RAZO Pedals!!! I have the EXACT SAME ONES on my Hachiroku!!!
See?!

BTW kamusta na yung AE86 movement diyan sa 'pinas and howz the GT86 also?
Lastly, why did you choose to do a RHD conversion from the LHD? (cooler version IMO) ingats!

Sad but oh so very true indeed!

Never owned one myself but there has been one in the family for a while now. My brother has had his for 7-8 years now. That is one of the main reasons I chose the FR-S. When we were younger we always chose similar cars, sort of a sibling rivalry of sorts. We're past that now but it will be nice to hit up a few meets and cruises together, me in the new, him in the predecessor.

From humble beginnings

To how it sits today..........and still more to come!!

Actually most of the levin stuff on his car is from a kouki levin. Front and rear bumpers, hood, front lights, front fenders all kouki stuff. The corner lights and grill is zenki.

Cool car nonetheless, i think i have a magazine with this car in.

Man, where are all you guys finding these clean AE86's? Every one I come across is in terrible shape and "track ready". If I ever found one in nice enough condition, I probably would have bought it instead of my FRS.

Lots of patience, and hovering around sites will eventually net you a clean AE86. Although as time goes on by, it is getting a lot harder to find one. I remember the days where you could look through your local newspaper's buy/sell section, and see plenty for sale. That was over 10 years ago now.

Kumusta!

needed to do the converison cos it's not legal to run RHD in the PI anymore. i did run RHD for a good month with heavily tinted windows while i was waiting for the LHD pieces to arrive. had issues whenever I put the car on reverse, i kept looking back on the wrong side(b pillar side)

the new Toyota 86 is ok.. better handling and power stock to stock with the old 86. it's good cos you get the comfort of the new car, but then turn off all the driving aids and you get the raw feeling of the old car.

i live in a small island in the PI(Cebu), the main hardcore AE86's are all in Manila..
