@Dave-ROR, do you have before and after oil temps of the setup while on a track? Just curious how well the setup is cooling the oil. Thanks.

I haven't been on track since installing the cooler and didn't have a gauge on the car before I plan to loop it (to eliminate the cooler) on track if everything else is going smoothly.

Others have seen close to 300 degrees I believe in the south.

At what Oil Temperature should I consider an oil cooler as necessary?

I'd prefer to keep it down around 250-270.

Does a higher viscosity oil get hotter, cooler, or no difference?

Maybe I'm missing something...but where did you end up mounting the oil temp sender? I see you got the oil pressure on the end of the galley at the head, but didn't see where you decided to move the temp sender once the sandwich plate was removed.

Thanks again.

ok logging still not working but at ACS in fontana the ECU would start pulling power at 200 degree farenheit.... with a SEVENTY degree ambient day(I went back to my stock cooling system to baseline the car) oil temps were in the 290-295 range no pressure readings but I have gone to a 5/30 oil

Putting the BIG SOLUTION back in to see how it works.

I think it was 87 on Saturday and a few degrees less yesterday. I hit 235 after the cooler max but normally 230. Not sure how that would compare to the oem sender's reading. It's likely higher than the pan would read but lower than the head oil temps of ourse. My guess is that I'm within my 250 range that I'm good with.

Is that 200 deg oil or water temp (assuming you are talking oil temps)?

Oil pan temps should be hottest because that's where the oil falls after it's picked up all the heat from flowing through the engine.

Since you're also a Honda guy you might want to know that I'm looking at running a 12.5:1 B18C with big cams at 8500rpms for 6 hours in a 2100 CRX with a 25gallon fuel cell. Oh yeah.. with an oil cooler.

Nice, 6 hours is nothing though

And I've seen cooler temps in the pan due to air flow and oil volume. Depends on sensor location, etc. Sandwich plates often read hot because the block heats the sandwich plate itself.
