Be sure to checkout Racecomp's thread about swapping to 4.55 gears. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27647 Quote:
If the AT is faster and /or more efficient for you, that's fine, but for everyone else your mileage may vary(ymmv). |

Anyone who has spent any kind of time around cars knows that this is as surprising as it is counterintuitive but unless someone is ready to stand up and call B.S. to the manufacturer and testing agencies, his statement stands. Scott |

.As for the Twins, MT and AT are getting similar numbers under real world conditions, despite the AT having better gearing. Nothing new here. |

Point I am trying to make same crap with AT being a little better if you hate being stuck in traffic or a hill with MT. They will pull the same if the AT is on manual mode. |

So is there a point to this thread besides rehashing the AT vs MT arguement?
Everyone will pick their preference based on what they want to drive and what's most important to them. Outside of the subjective stuff, objectively the AT has taller gears. Good for cruising, bad for accel in most speed ranges. Fuel economy in practice has been more or less a wash. So pick whatever you want.

The point to the thread was to see what people were seeing for acceleration in daily driving, rather than magazine times. I was seeing if I wanted to get the AT or the MT and I have chosen the MT. That's all it was meant for.

I doubt many here have actually timed their 0-60. I know I haven't, it's not why I drive this car

Yeah, I didn't expect many people to do that. The most helpful post in this thread was the video of the AT vs. the MT. That solved it for me.

I managed a faster time in autox X runs last weekend in an AT than more than one MT in CS/RTR and STX. Unfortunately my STX runs weren't as fast.
