Oh, well sorry, didn't see the other cars sub forum. My fault.

Definitely thinner though, but at the same time find a tread that was designed to channel water away from the contact patch. Plenty of manufacturers out there have tires that are made for better wet-weather traction, generally unidirectional. Also make sure you have enough tread depth too, otherwise the water has nowhere to go.

edit: lulz, just noticed ZDan posted pretty much the same stuff that came from tire rack. Oh well, still good info!

Yea I like the General G-Max A/S 03. Probably go that route, might even put them on my FRS, they don't look bad at all. Reviews were pretty good too.

It's a Matrix, not a Karma. I'd just slap some Extreme Contacts on there and call it a day. (No disrespect intended, i'm just asserting that you may not need anything paramount for your needs.)

IMO, ensuring you get tires with GREAT wet traction is important on any car that's daily-driven.
ExtremeContact DW has great wet grip, but not applicable if the car even *might* be used in cold/wet or snow/ice conditions.

ExtremeContact DWS isn't rated quite as highly in the wet:
"What We'd Improve: Sharpen handling and increase wet traction a little"

Continental tires are also have notoriously soft-sidewalls. We ran a set of the previous-generation ExtremeContact all-seasons on the wife's Mazda3, and they conspired to transform the car's handling from decently-sharp to noticeably squirmy and less planted.

Hmmm speaking of wet traction, I saw a tire shootout that showed some Kumho Ecstas having absolutely horrendous wet grip?

For the people who gave positive feed back about TIRES in general, thanks. Your input helped me make an informed decision on what tires I'd use on my Matrix. I know its not A MATRIX FORUM, but this forum does have MANY KNOWLEDGEABLE people, and that was my ultimate goal, to gain the knowledge and opinion of BRIGHT peiople... Thanks again guys.

Which Kumho Ecsta would this be? Practically all Kumho passenger tires in all different categories are called "Ecsta"... I will say the Ecsta Sport LE is an excellent wet tire. I have Ecsta XS's on my FR-S and they do very well in the wet, much better than stock but not as good as the Ecsta Sport LE's.
