Functional tire combo

I'll be upgrading wheel specs to staggered. 18x8.5 F et.35 & 18x9.5 R et. 42. Question is what can you guys suggest for a functional tire combo? Especially in the rear. Chose staggered for looks but still want this tail happy car be there. (Note:I'm a little noob so trying to learn these stuff)

Given what you have said, what about 225 F and 235 R.. or even 235 all round if you want to be able to rotate.

I am on 18x9.5 +38 rear with a 255 and definitely the car is a bit too grippy for the stock power now.. so I would think maybe a 235 given you say you want it to be tail happy..

You will find it will actually make the most difference with your tyre choice.. a really good 235 will perform better than the cheapest 255..

I disagree since finding tires to fit your wheels is much easier than the other way around.

Plus you may find some wheels you like that are rare or whatever and they might not fight the tire size you wanted to begin with.

I'm dangerous, find some wheels; make em fit.

edit: 225f 235r is a good suggestion.

I would even say 225 all around but some may think that's too much stretch on a 9.5

your offset for the front is pretty aggressive, maybe you'll get understeer

but if you are to be running 9.5 in the rears... you gotta stretch some 235s on there and maybe go 205/215 stretched fronts if you want a tail happy car.

maybe go with a 9.0 rear and 8.0 front to minimalize stretching and still keep the staggered look

I'm not for stretching but if that's what you want

I'm not for stretching but if that's what you want

I already got my wheels. (managed to get a hold of a set of ADVAN RSII...So sticking to that staggered sizes. Now just to find for the proper tires. I'm just lowered w/ a 1" springs adding to the info. But yeah.. I'll keep those point in mind.

good choice!

just be careful with stretch because too aggressive and it can become dangerous. just look up tire stretch fail lol

oh 1 last thing, try to keep the rolling diameter about the same. i.e, 40 sidewall in the front and a 35 sidewall in the rears since you have 18s

I have 235 255 all seasons and you can slide it, in fact its prob less grip than stock. Its all about the compound.

Thanks! I know. Just want to get a feedback w/ the setup I want to do but I'll keep those points in mind so that I can make the proper decision when I get there.

here's the calculator for you. If you don't mind being off by about 3mph going 65 then you can do it

then again, you could always get your speedometer sensor calibrated again lol

What do you mean off by mph in my speedo? I'll be slower than the speedo? So what can you suggest w/o anything being recalibrated?
