Winter Wheel/Tire Combo...

Hey guys,

Like a good number of you out there, I plan on daily driving my FR-S even during the torturous Wisconsin winters. I bought this car to look good and stand out regardless of the season. In other words, I don't really want to invest in a set of plain jane steelies outfitted with Blizzaks.

So, here's my plan: get a set of 15" Rays TE37 (gravel) wheels and outfit them with Pirelli Scorpion Tires (205/65-15). Question: since this setup was meant for the gravel, does that mean that it won't work in the snow? Or will it work? I haven't had experience with this set of tires, and I'm looking for some feedback. Thanks!

In general if they're not snow tires then they're not as good on snow. They may very well be better on snow then all seasons, or summer tires but on ice they probably suck.

Winter tires are a different compound that works better at colder temps, along with having other characteristics.

You're probably right. I guess I'll just throw some Nokian Hakkapeliita R's on the TE37G's.

You should make sure 15's will fit over the brakes. I thought 16's were the smallest we could go.

Totally forgot about the brake size. Yeah, I'l look into it.

Does anyone else know if a 15"rim will work, or will I have to go with a 16" rim?
