Well the Torque thing would just allow you to use a USB OBD2, not a BT one. In reality, this is actually a better solution as USB refreshes much faster than BT.

The BT limitation is built into the OS I believe. We'd have to look into rooting/ROMing it before we could determine whether or not it's a hardware limitation.

I've noticed the Adayo has some what quite a bit of reflection on the screen from the sun. Is this true with the Ca-Fi and the Ca-Fi knockoff?

Thanks

Um, the reflection is about the same between the knockoff and ca-fi. I did notice the sun performance of the adayo was a bit lacking compared to the other two.

Yea, I already said in a post somewhere that it isn't worth a review. I'm sending it back tomorrow.

You won't be able to see the screen in the sun if that's anti-glare. Just letting you know now.

Hey! First off, thanks for all the info you've given us and answering some if not all of our questions!

Maybe it's because I don't know anything when it comes to car stereos, but I was wondering if it's possible to use the ports (usb and aux in) that come with the car next to the "phone dock" with the Ca-Fi knockoff. Would that give you extra inputs or would they take the space of an already existing input on the stereo...

I hope my question isn't too stupid.

PS: For my fellow Canucks, (i.e. some ebay.com products aren't accessible to us including 2forme's ebay link) here's a link to the Ca-Fi knockoff ebay.ca http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2-Din-Car-Ste...t_18982wt_1111

Android greater than 2.3 allows using multiple BT devices at the same time. Apps like torque and one I used called solostorm can use a BT GPS and OBD2 adapter at the same time.

That's not the issue. The issues is the BT chipset is limited to A2DP only. It won't pair any devices other than phones.

There's no way to use those in addition to the usb ports on the head unit. You can mod the stock one to extend one of the ports on the back.

Have you had the chance to try out the ca-fi dashlinq universal? I'd like to know how it compares to the ca-fi you reviewed in the OP.

Crazy thought for you guys, why not a wifi odb2 adapter? The ones i've seen have been more expensive then the BT ones, but it should technically work via an adhoc network. Obviously you won't be able to be connected to your home network and the adapter at the same time but la dee da.

If someone gets brave enough to try one, let us know how it works out.

Been there, done that. You can't create an adhoc network on these units without root (it even says so in the Torque app [root access required]).

I'm trying to get a better feel on the Torque forums as to which USB API's they needed to use for the Ca-Fi unit.
