Just so you all know how good you've got it - my last car had a 17 gallon tank and I was stopping every 225 miles to fill up.

Got about 423 if I remember right heading back from El Paso back to Barstow.. I can average around 36-38.. Just depends which way I'm going.. A lot of mountains in this area

I get about 240-260 to a tank. 90% stop and go traffic 10% canyons lmfao

On my old car (G35) I got 260-280 miles out of a 20 gallon tank...feels so much nicer to cut my gas costs in half.

I believe the Jk stands for "just kidding"...as in don't take this so seriously...

P.S. How are you possibly getting 38mpg? Even if you're taking it easy, that sounds excessive...just curious...

I just drove from about an hour south of Boston to Miami (1580 miles) at about 97% highway with cruise on and I got 31 MPG. I was stuck it NYC, DC and Jacksonville traffic for a time which Im sure affected the numbers but only slightly.

I'm not looking for yaris mileage, but it would have been sweet to be able to get to work for the week on one tank of gas! If they could have just squeezed in a 60L tank maybe...

A/T is the secret IMHO. Both 5th and 6th gears are overdriven.

In my 6MT I can get 35+HWY but if I exceed 70mph my MPG drops back down to 30-31. I don't know if it's an aerodynamic brick wall of efficiency or the engine getting in to the torque-dip requiring more throttle input.

Also, for some reason I noticed (on a road trip) I can get better mpg maintaining 65mph with my right foot then I get with my cruise control. Never have I had this happen in any other car. Kind of bummed about that.

Maybe I'm not understanding your question, since that would vary with the price of gas. I almost always fill up either right before or right after the fuel light comes on and since 5/17/2012 over 41 tanks the average price has been $3.63 per gallon and $35.92 per tank with an average fillup of 9.9 gallons.

Honestly, this has exceeded all my expectations. I figured I'd be happy with mid 20's given the EPA numbers. Also, I don't drive with a light foot, never have, it's just not in my DNA. I'm always the first off the light, and the one trying to see just how fast I can take an off-ramp.

I've seen folks claiming they are averaging under 20. Unless you are sitting completely still, or averaging a speed under 30, I just don't see how it's possible.
