Guess I know who designed the traction control. TOYOTA! Same pedal dance with the Lexus IS I had in 06. It was with a foot brake back then so it was truly a pedal dance. Haha.

I was about to say the exact same thing. I tried a few times on the IS just for fun but you never really needed to turn it off for everyday driving ... not like most people track their IS 2nd gens. Well I did, once.

Will have to try this next time I go on track in the BRZ .

Thanks for posting this. I just found a use today in our first decent amount of snow. I was doing parking lot donuts and noticed a huge amount of abs-style braking going on in the rear. Did the pedal dance and got the real roaring donuts I wanted

You just need to disable TC & VSC to do donuts in the snow Nataku.
Seems only TC was disable since you heard/felt braking in the back.

Need to hold the TC button at least 3 sec until bot lights come on in the dash to disable those two (but leaves EBD fonctional but useless doing donuts since not applying the brakes).

Hope this helps

Thanks for the input. Not to discredit you but I had done that and still had issues. I've been doing the 3-5 sec TC button thing for months because of autocross. This diagnostic mode Easter egg was the solution I needed for the donuts. As for physically why, I have no idea.

Oh well, never had issues while doing donuts (in the snow)...

Interesting. Will try again to see. :happy0180:

when I first got the car I held the traction button the few seconds described here and it eliminated the tc. Now when I do the same thing it doesn't. Any ideas?

You can't "disable" TC while the car is above a certain speed.

I've heard this before, but I've disabled TC at freeway speeds by holding it in for 3 seconds. Just a side note, you can disable TC with VSC Sport on (which disables VSC Sport mode), but you have to enable TC to go back to VSC Sport mode.

Every time I use the buttons in an attempt to disable the TC I do it at a complete stop as the owners manuals says. I've never attempted it on the move.
