So, when does the traction/stability control work against you?

Since I am new to all forms of electronic nannies (never even had ABS) I have to wonder in what situations the traction control is going to be a negative.

Certainly in a situation where I need to rock the car out of a snow drift it will require turning the thing off.

What about sudden transitions not involving wheel speed differentials? I am thinking black ice situations. Not that much will save you, but will it become a liability by preventing driver input?

Snow. If you're stuck then, you need to turn the traction control off so that the wheels can spin you out of snow.
Drift or slide. If you want to do this intentionally then turn that off.

Traction control will beat any novice driver in ALL conditions… Only the pros will be able to react better…
