There's a fix in the DIY section. Do it. takes 5 minutes.

My situation doesn't involve ice, but lately we have had some days that have droppbed below 40* F, and my windows have been going down when I open the door, but won't automatically go back up when I close the door. I took it to the dealership and they said basically what is quoted above: when it gets cold outside it is harder for the window to close itself, which makes it think there is something blocking the window. They literally said that the car is operating as it should, and implied that it's just going to be part of owning the car... pisses me off since I bought it BRAND NEW and since it's operating as designed, "there is nothing to fix"... so I just have to deal with it.

Not sure where to go from here, but I am definitely not satisfied.

ummm after my reset, the windows haven't jammed ever since. the weather has been colder here too.maybe further wear and tear on the windows will loosen it up, the jam would occur less often.

Dude, it's in your manual, that's like the definition of "normal operation"

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=44

You can feel how you want about it but unless it does something out of the ordinary I don't think anybody is going to do anything about it.

Thanks for the link. As for it being the definition of normal operation, I disagree. The manual says "When the power window does not close normally", and then gives the corrective steps to remedy the problem (temporarily).

Don't be absurd. The window staying in the down position is not acceptable. It is a design error that is the result of good intentions revolving around preserving the window mechanism and door seals.

In order for this to be "Ordinary" it would have to be predictable, repeatable and acceptable to the owner. So far, to me, the dealer and Scion,it is not.

If you want to "live with it", then every time you get out of your car, you need to pause and inspect (in the dark) if it is down or not. Then walk over to the passenger side and repeat. If it is down, then you get back in the car and reset the window.Don't EVER forget to do this, because the one time you do, you are gonna be screwed. It gets old and eventually you forget to check. I will try not to do it again.

The good news is that it was snow, easy to brush out and vacuum. Water is going to suck worse when it happens.

Yeah I made that post before you posted that in the other thread, it sucks and it is a design... deficiency. More power to you to complain, but I will honestly be very impressed if anything comes of it. I know I would be right pissed off if I was in your shoes.

Well, its been about 24 hours and the weather turned cold again. After being in the dealers hands yesterday, the windows did not go down at all today. No visible ice, but jamed up and not moving at all when door opened.

Fortunately I checked as I pulled in tonight since the window did drop down (I did not notice)

Got back in the car and reprogramed the window and got out and made sure that it went up again. Had I missed that it was working again, and malfunctioning, I would have had another snowman driving in the morning!

Dunno why they went frameless, Subaru is going away from them now. My passenger window just did this yesterday, did the little jog down and stayed down after closing door. I didn't notice until I came back after work! Btw temp here hasn't gone below 70!
And I assume the band I see left on glass after lower & raising is due to some reenforcing block inside door to support the glass because its frameless. This is probably my one gripe with this car. Everything else is pretty nice!

What if it had rained all day? A lot of the bright lights around here would tell you that you were an idiot for not seeing the problem.

And since you WILLbe checking from now on, dont forget too walk around and check the passenger side.
