Based on what I'm reading, since I live in Portland with it's rain and occasional snow (less than Seattle by the way!) and only track my car a few times a year, I should get this kit instead of the Sprint kit? If yes are the rear brakes even needed or are they more so people can have a matching set?

Hi Guys,
I reworked our website to explain the differences between this kit and our Competition Systems. Check out our new main big brake kit page. It has a comparison grid that shows the differences between product lines. Hopefully this answers a lot of general questions. Also, I created sub-pages for the Formula Kits and the Competition Systems. I'll also be doing a separate page for this Formula kit, the rear kit, and the big six piston formula kit...that's going to take some time though. I'm still awaiting more details on the specifics of this system...weights, pics, etc. I will pass them along as soon as I have them. They are coming, and they will fit stock wheels. Also, word is that we may have the rear kits next week. They are designed to mate up with this system and the big six piston setup (which is here on the shelf and ready to ship in both red and black). I will of course have all the details on display here as soon as they arrive. Thanks for your patience.

We're going to do our best to hold adequate inventory and provide the best service possible. I believe we've done that so far, and since initial release of our various products...lines, pads, brake kits, etc...nobody has had to wait for anything. It's just tough to gauge demand for these cars right now. The market is still developing...more cars arriving in customer hands...more people realizing the brakes on these cars aren't quite as good as people initially thought they were, etc. Hopefully that makes sense. Again though, if you know you want a kit, I'd suggest ordering one. Until everything smooth outs, it's going to be a classic Econ 101 supply and demand problem. AP Racing is currently super busy building F1 parts, NASCAR Sprint Cup parts, ALMS parts, WRC, DTM, Aussie V8 parts, etc....don't forget they're also making brakes for some of the top Supercars, like the McClaren Mp4-12C (see below for some gratuitous carbon brake pron). These FT86 brake kits are designed and built right alongside all of those components, by the same people. When you buy an AP Racing system, you are in select company. The top race teams without any budget limitations choose AP Racing, and sometimes even they have to wait...but sometimes having the best is worth the wait. :happy0180:

Could someone please point out what issues people were having with the sprint kit in "specific climates"? I can't find this thread, and I specifically was planning on using the sprint kit for DD and 5-10 trackdays a year. Ambient climate temperature range of -5 to 35 Celsius. I had crumbs for dust boot left after my first trackday with the last car (not to mention wheel weights melting off...etc). I need serious brakes, local track is hard on em.

So if I threw down today, approximately when are we looking at initial delivery of red/black kits? Just because I like you so much I can do it now instead of waiting to e-file my taxes. I mean, I want to guarantee having one of the first kits, but if we're looking at a few months down the line...
