Going to see these today. But honestly, I'm not concerned or excited or anything about the 130R. It looks ugly, like GM's re-styling of a 1 series, and will likely have a really high CG. The driving dynamics will likely suck compared to the twins as well. GM's baby is the Vette and they will not allow ANYTHING to threaten it's numbers. A sportscar with similar handling, even if it has 1/3 the hp, will not fly.
Not to mention that GM messed up and should have swapped bodies with that other small prototype. (I forget the codename at the moment) That FWD hybrid looks a LOT more sporty than the 130R. |

The 130R's 109" wheelbase diminished my enthusiasm for it.

I thought the Cobalt to be a little cheaper than 25k? Because it was competing with the Mazdaspeed 3 in the sports department? Well either way it was well done for its time, and although Chevy will attempt to make an FR-S "killer" they just wont have the proper formula for winning. GM, just keep to your vette.. its what you do best!

P.S. I should have read the entire thread because everyone else knows that already. This GM concept (if it ever gets built) would likelly be available after the FRS/BRZ is in it's second generation of design platform and GM will just never be able to catch up if it's car is ever even remotely capable. I really think the automotive world was caught with their "pants down" after the twins came to the market. I think Toyota and Subaru have nothing to worry about. 2.) And by racing organizations. Cobalt SS was quite successful in SCCA and NASA. Set up well, FWD is hardly a disadvantage. I'm actually very surprised at how many people dislike how the concept looks-- because i find myself really digging it.

From the thickness of the front, it looks like will NOT be a boxer engine inside, therefore, will NOT be low CoG, therefore will NOT be hugging to the ground, therefore will NOT be fun to drive(?). Perhaps they are going for muscle again? Turbo? 0-60? to win over some FRS/BRZ customers? I don't think GM gets it.
