I've noticed that it is quite easy to disengage the parking brake when shuffling around to exit the car, especially if you are removing a bag or something from the passenger seat area. Something you may want to be conscious of.
I live in Houston, so the majority of time, I am parking on level ground, and I consider the parking brake to be enough. However, on the rare occasion that I park on an incline, I am always sure to double check the parking brake in addition to leaving the car in gear. |

E-brake seems to be working fine now, for parking at least. So in just one week I have rolled my car into a ditch, making it a muddy mess. Scraped up the underside of the front bumper. And after a week of rain, already have condensation in my tail lights. So to try to get over these headaches, today I washed the car real good and decided that "my" break-in will end at 600 miles. Pretty much forgot about everything and had one of the best driving days ever. This car is friggin awesome

Since the e-brake is only a drum brake, susceptible to similar corrosion/debris/residue/dust as a rotor but it's more enclosed, I will occasionally pull the handle to drag it while driving. Only a few times, a few seconds each time, increasing pressure, once every couple weeks. IMHO it helps clean the braking surfaces of the drum and pads just like using normal brakes. I've also had a car roll away from a driveway many many years ago (also user error), and decided I'd never made the mistake again. I always leave it in 1st or R.
