Rust on tow hook

It appears that the front tow hooks are already beginning to rust. I'm guessing this was caused by the metal on metal contact when the car was tied down for delivery. Anybody else have this problem? Should I be concerned?

Did you try to see if it'll wipe off? Looks like it could just be rail dust from transport.

i've tried rubbing it pretty hard with a towel and also tried to scratch it off with my nails, but it's still there.

actually, after reading more about rail dust, it seems like the hot metal particles can actually melt onto the paint. this would explain why it's hard to remove. i'm actually not sure if that's rust from the actual hook or just metal particles that became rusted (rail dust).

It could just be the rust from the rusted chains during transport... Either that or possibly surface rust.

It looks like the paint has been chipped off and its starting to rust. I wouldn't worry about it. If you are really concerned just plastidip it. No ones going to criticize you for something they can't see.

There's rust neutralizer/inhibitor stuff you can get at auto parts stores or Walmart. Just put that on and let it dry. Then add touch up if you want.

You could just clean it well and spray it with a clear enamel rattle-can to slow any further rusting.
