If you are worried about the only 3HP gained from the takeda and think there are others out there that add a lot more, forget that. This car does not make "big power" from a catback exhaust upgrade. If someone is claiming big gains than they are lying or inflating numbers.
You will get more power from a test pipe than a catback. Get your exhaust based on quality and sound. I went with the MXP and a Motiv test pipe and love it. |

I have the Nameless offset axelback and love it. I wanted the quietest option since I plan on upgrading the front and over pipe and doing a header down the line.
Also, like others have stated, many of the manufacturers that claim big numbers on catbacks made sure to post their baseline numbers that were recorded before the motors were fully broken in (in the range of 150-160 whp) and then posted their numbers with exhaust after the motors "loosened up" a bit. The FRS/BRZ in stock form seem to be making in the range of 160-175 whp when they have a few miles on them.

Because it's easier to install. Don't need to worry about moving the sensor or jimmy rigging anything to fool the car. Plus it's cleaner and comes that way from the factory. A high flow cat will still give a decent performance boost. It's rather not get the few extra hp and stay with the cat/legality/ease of install.

I've seen quite a few people selling them after purchase because of droning. I hope it works out for you and there's no drone. Nothing worse than getting a headache just from driving.

It was nice chatting with you tonight. We have a lot in store for future development for the 86 and having some time to talk cars with another FR-S owner was a good motivator for me to get back in here and start participating.
