It came with my OBD2 cable and I've been able to use it to change some of the dealer settings like headlight auto-off delay time, disable the auto-off for rear defroster, adjust the buzzer volume from the remote, disable passenger side seatbelt warning buzzer. You can also disable DRL, adjust the sensitivity of the auto headlights to come on when it's darker or lighter out.

I've posted some screenshots below (VIN removed). I'm most curious about the "Inspection Mode" function in this screenshot. I wonder if this would be a way to semi-permanently disable traction control/VSC without having to hack up a solution to the switch?

here are some other random shots, for the curious:

Do you know what other things you can configure with Techstream? I have a few things in mind that would be great!

auto-locking at >15km/h etc
'Guide me home' low beams that stay on for a few minutes after car is turned off
automatic door unlock when car is turned off
automatic right-mirror parking assist on reverse selection

Not possible at the moment.

My BRZ does this, I'm almost positive TechStream has the option for enabling and adjusting the length of time they stay on.

I was looking into the Subaru option and there is actually a free version fully developed for Subaru. Its called FREE SSM (Subaru Select Monitor). I haven't tried it and didn't read much into it because I think I need a new cable for that one, but look it up in the internet. I am not 100% of BRZ compatibility, but I don't see why it wouldn't be compatible.

Not sure if it would be compatible or not, the last build date on it seems to be 2.5 years ago. http://developer.berlios.de/project/...group_id=10320

Man, I swear I'm not kidding. I just opened the page a minute ago, must be right at the same time you were looking at it LOL!

Yeah, it does seem that free one will be outdated for the BRZ.

That's a shame. I bet if enough people contacted the developers (and someone offered up their car for a little testing) they might be willing to update it. Especially any of you guys in Germany, since that seems to be where they are located.

Typically, the eBay copies of the software has a key somewhere on the CD. Some of them have gone so far as to put actual keygens on their discs.

Worse comes to worse, your typical warez site will have an answer for you, but we won't get into that here.

I downloaded 7.20.041. It includes instructions for activation (replace Main Menu file, then use some keys to activate).

I replace the Main Menu file, run Techstream, but when I go to the activation menu, I input the supplied keys and hitting software activation opens a webpage. Well, that webpage never connects. I close the webpage and go back to activation window. I click ok and nothing happens... Then, eveytime i try to connect to the car, it tells me i have X amount of days (now at 25) for using techstream without activating it.

Anyone has any idea what am I doing wrong?

Is anyone using a Tactrix Openport 2.0 cable with Techstream, and if so have you been able to program TPMS ID's with it? I'm thinking about spending the $170 for a Tactrix cable, but only if I can confirm it will program TPMS.
