Toyota Techstream
Anyone here experienced with this software?
It came with my OBD2 cable and I've been able to use it to change some of the dealer settings like headlight auto-off delay time, disable the auto-off for rear defroster, adjust the buzzer volume from the remote, disable passenger side seatbelt warning buzzer. You can also disable DRL, adjust the sensitivity of the auto headlights to come on when it's darker or lighter out. I've posted some screenshots below (VIN removed). I'm most curious about the "Inspection Mode" function in this screenshot. I wonder if this would be a way to semi-permanently disable traction control/VSC without having to hack up a solution to the switch? http://i.imgur.com/cSs74.png here are some other random shots, for the curious: http://i.imgur.com/MEFXK.png http://i.imgur.com/a5osC.png http://i.imgur.com/6KcWg.png http://i.imgur.com/j2Dyd.png http://i.imgur.com/atjwe.png |
Yes I use this everyday at work. Where did you get the cable and software? And why do you need it? You can use it to reflash the ECM but let's put it this way if you don't know what you are doing kiss that ECU goodbye

Picked it up on ebay. |
how much was it do you have pictures?
|
the reason i ask is because toyota sells it to their techs and i wasnt sure how it comes because i want one. I have been with Toyota for over 10 years

Techstream is the software the dealers use to make these changes to the car. I can say that 7.12.000 is the newest version (at least one of our local dealers says it's the newest one). I can also say that since the software that came with (what I'm guessing is a Chinese Mini VCI Interface) your cable it's not legit. I haven't read about any issues of people using these versions, but buyer beware indeed. Some of the fake VAG-COM stuff has caused damages in the VW world in the past.
The "real" Techstream pacakge with the cables, laptop, and software is in the ballpark of $8k. It's powerful and useful software, but can be dangerous in the wrong hands. That being said I'm not sure if anyway you can disable the traction control permanently/semi-permanently. I know they're pretty adamant about not driving the Prius when it's in inspection mode as it can cause damage, but I doubt that translates to the FR-S. |
Seems better for advanced users and for those who would like to monitor the car via all the sensors.. check for leaks, for example. Overall, looks like best used for diagnostic purposes..

Mine just had the 7.12.000 software. I think it was $55 total. |
Hmm, mine came with 7.11.xxx. Ill have to find a new version.
I like being able to change some of settings without having to go to the dealer. |
the package they sell to techs is a couple hundred buks. urs looks legit judging by the pics...but like others beware just be careful what you do with it cause although most of what you can do with that software has safe guards on it you can mess up ur cars computers with it. as far as monitoring things with it, its a dream =) and a tip, try looking at only one ECM at a time to keep things up to speed. that 3000+ ms on the bottom left is ur refresh rate....thats super slow...a fast refresh rate for ur car is around 150ms

I wonder if this software could be useful for the OpenECU community in trying to reverse engineer things?
|
wow that is all they are asking for!?!? yeah i know Toyota sells them to us for more then that, so i will assume they have less features on this software.

Im wondering if that program would work with my fake vagcom cable
