This is a great automobile. If someone wants a WRX or STI ,then they want a totally different type of car. Both have great attributes. But I am tired of all wheel drive autocrossing. Rear drive cars offer so much more fun for the driver. The STI is a great car, but does not have the same feel as a RWD car and nothing makes me smile more than keeping an RWD car in control on an autorcross course or a racetrack. I raced all wheel drive cars for years, but after my M Coupe and now this car, I can not go back to AWD for the sheer excitement of racing in a RWD car. This car has just enough power to do what is does best, and for those who want 400 + HP they should look at other cars rather than have the core of this car rendered to the likes of a Mustang or Camaro....or something similar.

Hmmm..now that I think about it, the last 2 cars I've bought have been first year models...First was the Subaru Impreza Outback Sport in 2008 and now the BRZ back in June.

I guess I'll wait for tech specs on the new WRX STI on official release before I go oogle at it so much that I can't resist. That's what happened with the current BRZ. Time will tell

Same here. I needed a commuter car and didn't want to get stuck with a Jetta or something similar while I waited for the 2014's.

  1. AFAIK, there's been no announcement for USDM (DIY, FWIW).
  2. I assume so (mine doesn't have it).
  3. I assume so (it's so minor with mine that I haven't worried about it).
  4. AFAIK, there's been no indication of different rims (they'd still be heavier than the reasonably-priced Kosei K4R rims anyway).
  5. Yes.
  6. No, but it's not necessary.
  7. No.
  8. Not for improving driving dynamics (this is as good as it gets for this type of vehicle at this price-point). But I have some minor complaints:
    • Stereo sounds quite good, but could use more bass (the subwoofer was delayed).
    • Ice build-up can confuse the windows' auto-up (requiring them to be reset).
    • Infotainment UI is mediocre.
    • Navigation voice address search can be sluggish.

I'm planning on getting the new WRX - if it's a vehicle I want. (design, spec, price). I've been driving Cobb tuned WRX for 10 years. Probably would wait till 2nd model year - that would give me time to pay off my BRZ first. Question would then be do I keep the bugeye as a beater, and have 3 Subies? Shoot - I can only drive so much!

AHA Starlink?

Wouldn't mind seeing them put this in the BRZ.

They announced it at CES for the 2014 Forester...why not have it in the 014 BRZ?

"On vehicles with navigation systems, Starlink will debut in the 2014 Forester and as a running change in 2013 Legacy and Outback models, while 2014 Impreza, BRZ, and XV Crosstrek models get the new feature this summer.

I'm guessing all the silver trim panels in the new model will be black and slightly fixed headunit. Other than that, I'm not expecting drastic changes for Premium/Limited models. Will they add STI version or Premium Sports edition by then? Not sure.

This is OT, but how do you remove phones off the list? I can't get my new phone to connect with the old one still on there.
