Not really. As of now it's just a fairly expensive set of coilovers with a fancy name. From what I am seeing so far KW, JRZ, and AST are doing more to develop an actual race setup with guys and shops like Renzo, Matt, Robi, 949Racing, Turn in Concepts, Strano, and Racecomp Engineering.
They are all out doing testing on track. Ohlins has pictures, and are being promoted by a place called "modbargains," which, while it may not be the case, sounds more like a place that is into selling stuff on the internet than developing parts for motorsports. |

The Ohlins are called the "Road and Track" so they're being pretty straightforward with their intended use. They are awesome dampers inside, just valved and sprung for a street car that sees track time, not hardcore competition use. There are options for that.

Ohlins R&T are not a hardcore racing coilover but having had them on my s2k i know they are no joke, if you want a great set of coils that aren't going to ride rough despite pretty stiff spring rates, i don't think of all the shocks i've tried the anything has been better. The price of admission is well worth it IMHO Penske could have some great offerings for the twins as well, time will tell R&D is important, i emailed ohlins two weeks after our cars launched and they said they were in the process of starting to take a car apart for shocks, and these are due next year in march IIRC, thats a ton of R&D time to perfect what they are going to offer. I would agree the R&T are a great street/track suspension.
They are not a "high-end competition suspension" but that's fine, it will probably work better for most people than one. The Penske setup I was working with someone on referenced in that thread was a setup for CS autocross class. Penske wasn't developing anything, it was a competition suspension company (Anze Suspension) building a custom suspension based on Penske parts, which lots of other companies do as well. I am no longer working with them and with a different vendor (not using Penske stuff) so I'm not sure if they will continue development or not. The setup was quite a bit more expensive than these Ohlins R&T. |

Reading through a Race Tech suspension book, they have a diagram of the TTX. Very interesting. Piston is solid, so smaller, and looks like they could get more travel for the same static length because of it. Then the valving and shim stacks are sort of remotely mounted off the top of the body, with compression and rebound dials/clickers integrated in the mounting. Look like they would be ridiculously expensive for automotive applications, though.
