ModBargains and Ohlins are very happy to announce that a Coilover kit will be available for the FRS/BRZ. Of course to some of you, this isn't new news, but to the majority of the forum, this might be completely new. I'll be sure to update my thread as much as I can in regards to these coilovers, which I've personally had the pleasure of dealing with Ohlins directly to get for you. This is an informational thread, pricing will not be divulged, as if you're interested in that, please just message me directly to keep this thread on topic.

Information that has been released would be the following:

General Features:
- DFV (Dual Flow Valve)
- Rebuildable
- Corrosion Salt Spray Tested (ISO 9227)
- 2 Year Limited Warranty

Front:
- McPherson Strut
- Top Mounts with Camber adjustments
- Coil Springs
- Height adjuster
- Spring preload adjuster
- Single bleed adjuster
- Dustcovers

Rear:
- Conventional shock absorber
- Top mounts
- Height adjuster
- Length adjuster
- Single bleed adjuster
- Spring preload adjuster
- Coil Springs
- Dust covers

This is the latest step in the Ohlins Racing automotive philosophy - Road&Track by Ohlins.

A more than 30 year long tradition of high-end racing commitments and state of the art solutions within advanced suspension technology is now available for street cars all over the world. The focus has been clear from the very beginning - superior road handling without sacrificing comfort in your day-to-day transports. The time of compromises are over!

Ohlins have also added a clever light-weight design with a majority of the parts in aluminum and on the top of that all shocks have suffered through vast corrosion tests according to ISO 9227. The end result is a 2-year limited warranty on all of our products - worldwide.

UPDATE:

More info for you guys straight from Ohlins...

All of the McPherson upright mounts are extruded, then machined. Pricing as of right now should be listed around $3400, but that is subject to change, so don't quote me on that right now. Spring rates haven't been announced, but will be soon.

Most all of the kits are height adjustable from stock (or very near stock) 40-50mm below stock ride height. Kits will include the top mounts shown at SEMA which would be the Spherical bearing front/rear with camber adjustment on fronts. These will be using a 2.5" I.D. Spring. BRZ has yet to be confirmed on the top mounts, not sure if springs will be compatible with stock mounts or not.

Ohlins has their own spring manufacturer in Europe making springs to their specs.

I'll be veeeery curious to see how these stack up to the offerings from AST, JRZ, KW, and even Bilstein. I know Ohlins is though of very well in the 2 wheeled world.

Ohlins is probably the most well known in the motorcycle world as they're often factory equipment on most sport bikes, as well as multiple MotoGP, Supersport Le Mans, And world Superbike Wins under Ohlins belt as well, but they're starting to make their name on factory equipment high end vehicles as well such as the Lamborghini Aventador, Pagani Zonda R, Pagani Huayra and more.

Those lower mounts look glorious. Are they forged or billet? Hard to tell with the coating.

how much?

Bristecom 11-06-2012 07:03 PM

Spring rates?
Drop amount?
Can you get them with/use them with regular top mounts?

Also, I always wondered who makes Öhlins' springs? Do they make their own? I know in Japan they use Eibach...

Öhlins is the only coilover I would consider buying. Their DFV and TTX designs, as well as their quality, is the best in the world.

The way I understand it, it is an extrusion, then machined. The finish is tumbled in media and then clear anodized.

Been waiting for Öhlins. Was going to jump the gun and get JRZ, but I decided to hold out for these. Can't wait to order.

Had the DFV setup on my my Miata and drove it daily for 3 years. Never had any problems with it.

The 2 year warranty makes me worry a little. I'm not 100% sure how long they support there old products but I heard it's not "forever". If there was some guarantee on servicing i'll go ohlins

gmookher 11-07-2012 01:22 AM

pricing please

They are guaranteed to be serviceable by design. :iono: Where are you getting more than a 2 year warranty with coilovers?

At any rate they look excellent and probably perform even better.
