Most insurance companies charge less for the BRZ. I was quoted less for the BRZ with Geico, Allstate and Statefarm than the FR-S. Its due to the fact that its technically a higher end car. We see it the same but since it has a $2k higher premium, it fits into the higher end bracket. It's kind of like how a Camry is cheaper than a Corolla, even though in our case its practically the same car only with some better features.

that's kinda f**ked! cars are a "dead nuts" match for each other, except for some accessories, and a slightly different front end. maybe the frs is considered more of a "youth's car",and as such, the carriers figure it will "crash, and burn" MORE than the subie! just sayin'

But the suspension differences don't support that, with the FR-S being set up to be easier to slide while the BRZ being set up to be a bit more stable is noteworthy. Which do you think would be easier to make a mistake in?

If you truly feel that way, then I invite you to stop purchasing insurance, if you feel that they are taking advantage of you. Let me know how that works out for you.

You might want to increase your coverages from 15/30/10 to anything higher. It doesn't cover much at that low of a limit, and at 33, better coverage may not cost all that much more.

I have a 2006 Toyota Matrix XRS and a 2013 FRS. I am with progressive. $234 a month for both vehicles. But it should go down as I have no infractions with my Driving record and good credit. 300/100 coverage no mileage exemptions. Full coverage for both vehicles minus road side assistance.

Yeah, that's probably a good call. I'll see how much it'd be to bump up the coverage a bit.

Yeah. Obviously no one plans to get in a car accident and we all take precautions, but 15/30/10 really doesn't cover much. At least consider the next level up (25/50/25), though most companies can go pretty high, at least to 250/500/100.

X2. I used to have state minimums (25/50/25 iirc) but bumping up to 100/300/100 was a $7 difference a month. Worth it for the added wiggle room just in case.

Assuming you're in Virginia, the exact minimum limits are 25/50/20 (though you weren't far off)... better than the minimums of a lot of states, yes, but again, higher liability limits are always better to have and typically don't cost a lot.

As a side note, some companies try to steer clear of people who just want minimums, as people who only want the minimums (and likely have little regard for insurance) are sometimes viewed as being statistically more likely to be involved in some activity that results in an insurance claim/loss, and every so often there are carriers that actually charge more for policies quoted with just the minimum coverages compared to if they had selected something better.

The same thing applies for physical damage deductibles. It blows my mind when people only get $1,000 deductibles (unless they're either young or have bad driving histories, as those scenarios will show more significant differences between each deductible option).
