In PA you need to pass Inspection and Emissions. Which as long as you dont have a CEL you will pass Emissions basically. Even If I have a CEL I do have friends but I will also have the BRZ as mostly a show and track car. So In the end CARB may be good for some but useless for me. If PA followed that my car will be in biggggg trouble.

Done both SC and turbo on the same car. Turbo systems are more complex and introduce additional potential points of failure. It doesn't get simpler than a blower and a belt and simple is reliable. Had to go turbo to make the big power (400+whp). I don't care about that on the 86, so high hopes for the twin screw!

I think I'm leaningtowards the twin screw SC for these reasons:
-retains close to NA throttle response -most affordable option available -simplicty of parts and installation= $saving when installed -the sound of these SC is simply amazing -should give torque figure where its needed the most. -less heat introduced to the engine vs turbo. on the other hand: -I don't trust the reliability of the belts, those thing are always loosening. -AVO's reputation for making reliable turbos is amazing. I trust AVO because I see what they are doing to make sure their kit works but these guys NEVER give updates so I have trust issues with that. |

I don't distrust either solely based on their development practices and how much information/misinformation is leaked to the public. Leaking info doesn't have anything to do with building a quality product and supporting said product. CARB certification is HUGE IMHO and a very major step in establishing trust for a product and company, even if it doesn't apply to the state you live in. For me, that speaks louder than forum fodder...

That was my point. Reputations are built, not leaked. Hype while a product is being built is just that... Hype. I agree it's fun to read but it doesn't make me trust one more than the other.

It's all good.
. Wish we could fast forward a year and see how all these FI setups are withstanding the test of time.

-simplicty of parts and installation ^ The reasons I'm leaning towards this set-up. Although the AVO kit is tempting too.

Waiting for more info in this thread is like the wait for Duke Nukem 3D...for those who know how that was...let's just hope this isn't as disappointing!

Oh, and I thought dukenukem forever was actually pretty good after the wait. not awesome but better than diablo 3. Another note, they had said before there would be nothing until end of jan-feb. so until it passes the time they said ill keep the hope up. |
