If you contacted Stance I'm sure they could give you a difinitive answer... I never cared enough to ask.

Thanks, i was just saying its hard to mention something as being "the best" because there isn't a single best suspension on the market. Whatever is best for you no matter what the cost is what you want, i had Stance on my 240sx because i read reviews and everyone said they ride smooth and i had to sell them in less than a month because i couldn't take it. I switched to a Nismo spring/strut system and was much happier.

I haven't ridden in any FR-S but my own and have only had it stock and with Tein H Tech springs and the ride with them is as good as stock, everything rides good on nice roads but i just don't want people to be disappointed looking for a stock like ride when they get a coilover system like this. Look for somebody local to go for a test ride if at all possible.

I think Stance makes a quality product and i hear the service is good, this type just isn't for me.

If you think Stance coilovers ride too harsh, and swapped them out for oe optional spring/struts, then you just shouldn't be buying coilovers. Stances do ride very good on every car I've driven/ridden in, but factory suspension is a completely different thing.

I like a nice firm ride, not harsh, but firm. The FRS/BRZ has a firm ride from the factory, which I liked, and the Stance coilovers definitely feel like coilovers, but they seem much more properly valved then the factory coilovers. They're about as firm, but with less of the harshness. Aside from big bumps, which as I mentioned are definitely worse (but that could be in part due to my height).

Stance ride harsh because they use linear pistons. A koni, bilstein, kw, AST or ohlins will give you the same improvement in handling but won't ride as harsh because they all use a digressive piston.

Stance is made in south Korea by HSD. HSD also makes Buddy club, Powertrix, and Driftworks. If you look closely they are all the same coilovers with difference colors. Spring rate may vary between them.

Buddy Club I think is made by Bor Chuan.

A good damper will have a digressive shock curve, otherwise it gets too skittish on high-amplitude, low frequency bumps.

I haven't heard bad stories with the Korean KSDs, but coilovers in general are the one area you don't want to go cheap on imo. If you look at OEM dampers, they're a lot beefier--which although is heavier, also means they won't sheer off when you're pushing the car. This Bor Chuan coilover bent and broke on a track, messing up the 240SX:

This Buddy Club coilover just died while driving on the street:

Is KSD/Stance different? Who knows, maybe they are. All I'm saying is there's reason why companies like Ohlins, Koni, Bilstein, Moton etc are trusted.

Sitting pretty on cheap coils, to each their own.

People can get real picky/technical about suspension, it all depends on your needs/wants. Personally, as an 'upgrade'? No way.

I forget exactly where I put them, but I've got the dampers about exactly on the middle setting.

You people just repeated blow this coilover thing way out of proportion. No one is saying that Moton, KW, and such don't make great products. but that's not to say that entry level great products are shit. We're not talking about some NEX or Ksport coilovers here, stance is one of the most widely used and trusted coilovers in drifting.

Really you guys can think what you want about Stance's product, but they keep proving themselves:
