It's kanji in Japanese for Rice, but it also means the same in Chinese.

Yeah, but in Japanese it has a second meaning: America. Which I find kinda funny in the context of Americans trying to be insulting of Japanese cars. (米人, made up of the characters of "America" and "person" and read as "beijin," is a less common way of saying "American").
