Rota gets a lot of criticism since they had some failures early on that were highly publicized. Truth is they sell a lot of wheels and they're affordable. Any wheel will crack under abusive conditions. It was just more publicized with the Rota since the population set is huge. They make OEM tires for the big car makers in the Asian markets and comply with the Japanese standards. They aren't the lightest wheels around nor are they using the most advanced manufacturing techniques, but you have to ask yourself if you require that for your use case.

I think they're fine. That said, I'm going with Weds TC105N's because I really liked the look, it's not overly expensive, and RavSpec has a good deal and are local to me. I'd keep my primacy tires to burn through them but I'm going staggered with 17x8 / 17x9 so that's not an option. Had I stayed square with 17x8, I'd use them up first.

I didn't notice it too much in WRX, until I put crappy all-seasons on before I sold the car. Those tires sucked, but they were quiet! I LOVE the BFGs, but I'm positive I won't be able to handle the road noise due a quieter exhaust and likely less sound-deadening.

Anyone running 225/40/18 on 18x8.5/9.5?

Recently received my Work Emotion Kiwamis in bronze and was wondering if anyone is possibly running 225/40/18 on a staggered 18x8.5/9.5 setup?

I have 225/40/18 on 8.5 but its too narrow for 9.5 so I run 245/35 instead.

I remember reading 225/245 (f/r) tire sizes allow the FRS to still have some fun with its stock power

The RS3 is terrible in the cold. Completely agree there. The RE-11 has the widest heat range, but it also has the lowest heat range.
The Star Spec Z1 is by far the cheapest and best option for the performance you get. Yes the RE11 is the most refined, progressive but for the cost is way too high and I don't like how they howl on the street when you get close to the limits. Even having a little bit of fun they alert the town you are near the limit.

As for the KDW2...
The KDW2 are OLD! There are much better tires and options now.

I tried researching the forums and learning, but all these numbers are making my head hurt and I'm not entirely sure which numbers to match to ensure fitment.

Can anyone confirm if these will fit the stock tires?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/17X9-ROTA-GRI...03d839&vxp=mtr

Wheel size: 17x9
Bolt pattern: 5x100
Offset: +30

If they fit the stock tires, does that mean the stock lug nuts will fit too? If not, how do I find out which aftermarket lug nuts to buy?

There is a set of 17x9 Rotas in the classified for sale if you want to see how they look on stock tires. For lug nuts you can get gorilla 12x1.25 tuner style on amazon pretty cheap.

Yeah, I saw that but I was wondering if it's one of those things where it's like "Yeah, they'll fit if you force it, but there may be issues in the long-run" kind of thing. I know that happens if you have to stretch the tire to fit bigger wheels, but not sure if a similar issue will occur here.

Also, does that mean the stock lug nuts won't fit? How do I know what size to get? Can I deduce that somehow from the wheel size?
