FA20Club, did you notice a different exhaust note with this setup?(compared to stock) Also with me being in CA, will the front pipe and over pipe still have a cat? Lastly you mentioned the CAI will have a black option. Will this cost extra?

I'm actually intrigued that you used a smaller diameter in the intake to speed up air velocity. That could also explain why the car runs richer with no tune. The MAF is reading "more" air passing through it, thus giving more fuel into the engine, even if the volume of air is less. NO EXPERT HERE! I'm just throwing an idea out there. DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THIS!

we offer a catted version as well. the exhaust note did change a little but mainly on cold idle cruising is about the same.

Are there plans to dyno the catted version?

Maybe after one is ordered FL doesnt require emissions testing so we usually test catless versions of everything we fab up first to get the local guys going. im sure in the next week or so we'll have the catted version tested.

It has been well documented already by FA20, Visconti and forum members (with Dyno numbers and all) that to date (Before the FA20 intake) all available Intakes make negligible amount of power, even with a tune. Moreso, it has been documented that in order to run safe, all intakes require a tune because all of them have leaned out the mix a bit.

Kudos to FA20 for offering the complete package needed to run safe and make power.

Here's a question, because the guys that sold me my car slapped on front plates will this be an issue with this CAI setup? I feel like it would be blocking the air way with the front plate.

a front plate cant possibly block enough of the front grill opening to negate gains. its that were a major issue you would already have cooling issues with your engine

Even intakes like AVO and Perrin, where all they replace is the stock rubber tube?

No not those. But then, those are not performance oriented. Those are just that, rubber replacement. Two different categories. I'm comparing performance oriented intakes (Injen, Airaid, Afe, etc...) to FA20's

That's what I figured, but with the stock setup the snorkel actually moves it away from the area that's blocked. So nothing's really being obstructed there.

I just couldn't tell from your pics exactly where it would land, and if the plate would be covering it. But good too know it won't choke it, thanks for getting back to me so fast!

I'm just worried that when I get the AVO intake and a Perrin or Invidia Catted Frontpipe, it'll push the engine into the dangerous territory you mention. Unfortunately my other obligations, house, bills, heating oil, prevent me from really spending a lot of money at 1 time. $850 for a tune, license, and cable isn't really a financially feasible idea.
