Lexus likes to market the IS-F can shift in 0.1s (compared to 0.05s in F1 cars) with a sorry TC auto (!), but they haven't come out to say the FR-S/BR-Z performs at that level (so I'll assume that it is not quite as good as the IS-F). Let's say the FR-S/BR-Z can shift in 0.15s, how would this close the gap between the PDK and the FR-S/BR-Z slushbox?

You seem to be missing what I'm saying. I'm not trying to "prove" that PDK is superior by writing a message in a forum and/or explaining anything from a technical perspective. I'm simply saying that you (or anyone else) has to actually DRIVE a PDK to experience it for yourself. Once you do that, there will be no need to explain the "how" or "why", you'll just know it for yourself. BTW, PDK is light years ahead of the old SMG gearbox that BMW had in the M3 and it's also better than BMW's current DCT. The FR-S/BRZ AT is pretty much a basic slushbox and not in the same league as more advanced dual-clutch gearboxes.

My Muscle car is a 5mt(Doug Nash), 10.80et 1/4m. Fun as all heck. Plow truck is a 5mt, all others are AT. Here's my hope. I wish that someone can make the Subaru 5EAT shift as precise and hold whatever gear your in in sport mode as the 6AT in the BRZ. Fantastiic Trans!

On the Negative side of 6AT, I think they should have increased the flash(stall speed) to at least 3200.

The authors both would still take the stick, but neither felt the difference [in fun] between the two was anything to be concerned about.

Been really debating between getting a MT or AT for weeks. Read impressions and reviews on both transmissions and in the end, I got the automatic with no regrets! Automatics seemed to fair good, and having to drive manual in LA rush hour traffic every single day was the deal breaker for me.

The AT design of this car is insane - One of the best I ever seen, and it not even a dual clutch design. I feel like I got a real sport car with luxury when you need a nice coffee in one hand and also able to enjoy one of a kind manual sport mode. This car is so engaging !

Oh and that reminded me, the other reason I chose automatic is that I'm either holding a Starbucks/Peets coffee in my hand, or I'm holding my girlfriends hand.

I recently traded my auto fr-s of a month for a manual fr-s (same color.) I've always wanted to learn stick but one was never available for me to learn throughout my years of driving. Well I had an opportunity through my dealer to trade do to the fact they had a buyer looking for an automatic so I took it. Plus I didn't take a bad hit in the trade either. So to make a long story short, I'm now driving manual!...all be it poorly lol. Naw not really, I haven't stalled since the second day I had it which was this past Sunday. But my point is I was fortunate to have had the automatic and now the manual to compare to and both are great choices. Its technically win win. In my area traffic really isnt so bad and the land is mostly flat so I figured I could get away with a manual and even learn it on a new car. I read a thread about a guy going in for service and saw another FR-S there who apparently was already getting a clutch replacement! I can assure you all that won't be me anytime soon lol. Getting better everyday and loving it!

Hi my name is Tim, and I drive an Automatic Sports Car and I need others to tell me it is okay.

This seriously has been a really difficult decision for me, but the dealer just called me today to inform me my Whiteout FR-S AT is in transit from the Port of Long Beach to John Elway Scion in Manhattan Beach.

My first 3 cars were MTs, and although I miss the MT at times, I don't think I miss it all that much... especially after reading all the positive reviews from folks that have driven both the MT and AT.

Let's see if I'll actually decide to go ahead with the purchase....

Just curious, why did you opt for the auto in the first place then change your mind later?
