I want an E36 turbo diesel. They were never sold in US.
The 318ti is also the only e36 that came with e30 rear suspension, so I wouldn't doubt that that had something to do with that... I always kind of liked them, but kind of hated them.

Not the only one. E36/7 and E36/8 also.

Strangely my favorite E36 has E30 trailing arms and my favorite E30 has E36 Z-axle.

Regardless of chassis code, I don't really consider the z3 an e36... I wouldn't trade trailing arms for anything, gives the car so much grip in drifting.

I must be pretty tired, my apologies. I just saw the image and thought of some E30 trucks I have seen.

So it has been done.... I've always wondered if anyone has done that swap before. It looks like a perfect fit. I wonder how much that swap cost him...?

There is also an E30 M3 truck. I think it was actually made my BMW and never released.

I'm a big fan of E30s too. I was able to buy an E30 M3 back in 2000, when no one really appreciated them for a good deal! Still have it, but don't don't drive it much.
