Yep, I noticed that too but the dealership sold me on the undercarriage treatment (plzdon'tjudgeme). When I drove it home to see if it made a difference, I heard a ton of road noise from the new tires..... Fail. I've gotten used to the tire noise now, and having conversations in my car aren't yelling matches anymore.

You know you bought a sports car, right?

Not a sport compact, not a "sporty" car ... a sports car.

Welcome!

I will admit, there have been times where I've been nervous about the road noise. I keep thinking something's wrong with my car. XD I'm always like, "I hope I didn't break something or damage my tires somehow."

There's a fair amount of road noise, but nothing terrible. A lot of it probably depends on your expectations and past cars you've driven. If you're coming from a 370z/Miata/S2000/STI/EVO/etc., the FR-S will be relatively quiet.

50 sq ft was plenty. The wheel wells made the biggest difference. It doesn't make it quiet by any means, but definitely takes the edge off...

How did you apply it to the wheel wells? Did you paste it on with an adhesive? Think it will stay there?

I'd definitely like to cut some road noise, its not nearly as bad as some sporty cars I've been in but at highway speeds you can't hear the radio unless you turn it way up. And then you have to shout to talk to your passenger. I hear its possible to put mat material inside the doors and rear quarters but I really don't want to pull out the interior panels and risk damaging them.

This is 100% due to them getting the car down to 2750lbs. I knew this going in so it does not bother me.

It would be like buying a convertible and saying that it is too windy when the top is down.

I actually enjoy the noise. My car isn't a daily driver so I guess that's why I like the rumbling when I tear down the roads

My ap1 with stock exhaust was loud. This car is quiet. Sometimes I want it louder.

There is a plastic cover with pop rivets that can be removed to gain access to the metal. I put it on both the metal as well as the inner side of the plastic. The adhesive is already on the back of the fatmat so just peel, stick, and roll it out with the supplied roller. My only caution to you is that it MUST be warm and pliable when you apply it or else you will need to use a heat gun to warm it up before you roll it out. Do a forum search for fatmat as others have done this with similar results.
