One day I will have an e30 m3. Beautiful car man!

Love E30s!

So hard to find a decent example of E30 these days.
The closest thing I have been was this. It was my newer alternative to E30.
Some pictures from when I sold the car.

Rear subframe was basically E30.

It had the M44 engine. Basically the new version of M42 that was in in both E30 318IS on the earlier models of E36 318ti.

Alcantara seats:

Would love to own E30 M3. But they have gotten quite expensive for their age and I would feel better daily driving a GT86 than a classic car like the E30 M3.

Upcoming M2 is rumored to have a 4-cylinder again and high focus on being a drivers car. Maybe that will have more E30 genes than any other car we have seen. We can hope...
Made a more general BMW talk thread for those who are interested.

People are also dropping in the S50/S52 into the 318ti. Would make it a blast to drive considering the reduction in weight.

E30's are fantastic, but I prefer the E9's. Oh, man, I'd kill for a mint 3.0CSL.

The E9s are definitely beautiful cars. Gave true meaning to the analogies of it being a land shark. Being classy and sporty was somethinng that BMW did well back in the day...

I would assume the E30 is a bit more raw. I had a "newer" 318ti and the m44 engine is a bit heavier than the version with M42. (but a bit more torque and better fuel consumption if i remember correctly). I believe the M42 had forged internals and would be better for tuning.
I had more need for an LSD in that car compared to E36 sedan. And it felt a bit light on the rear in the winter, could need some weight. I kept the spare tire for that reason. :p The ti was very nimble. A fun car.
A quite torqueless engine. Quite fun to rev, but feels slow compared to modern petrol turbo (naturally).
It had some GT86 character. You could fully utilize everything in it. Every drop of power. Very good balance. It would have been quite perfect with LSD, but I never installed one.

Yupp, I have seen a couple of those. The best E36 for tight autoX due to weight and length.

Beauties. Those cars were BMW at it's best. I've got a dolphin myself and despite her being on the piggy side I still love her dearly.

This swap is insane! Combining one of my favorite chassis with a great engine.

318Ti is cool. Interesting anecdote: It scores poorly, compared to other 3 series, in emergency lane change tests. It's the only 3er they rolled. Higher CoG due to hatchback design, I suppose...

I want an E36 turbo diesel. They were never sold in US.
