Thanks for the update! They look a lot better now that they are somewhat tinted. IMO the light on it is way too faded/dim for my liking... Especially in rainy Vancouver here...

But great job!

Too bad the turn signals aren't the yellow ones and the park lights the red accents... You would think it should be the opposite... Unless you wired it up wrong.

P.S. That dog really scared the heck out of that camera guy. Haha... Is that white FR-S behind you his?

The video confirms both the rear running lights and brake lights are significantly dimmer than stock.

Also the rear running lights are yellow, which is not within compliance with DOT specs at all. Did they get the wiring harnesses backwards from the factory?

I appreciate you taking the risk in getting these and making a nice video. I wasn't a fan of these aesthetically but functionally it seems these things may leave much to be desired. Sorry for the bad break.

Also yes, please no drunk driving.

mate, I'm fairly sure you've got the wiring backwards. Orange inners should be the turn signal and the red outers should be the running/parking lamps.

There's only one way to plug them in, so this can only mean one thing: They were wired incorrectly from the shop or wherever they came from in Japan. Now I have to figure out how to swap the wires and which wires to swap, great... I'm sure as heck not going to send them back and wait two more months.

Thanks man! I'll definitely get some video when I get the wiring fixed. I think I may have to do some soldering, but i'm hoping I can just use pliers and swap their positions at the connector. I am trying to contact the vendor on eBay right now for information on how to fix them.

As posted, the wiring seems to be wrong inside the light, unfortunately.

Here's what I pulled from the BRZ wiring diagram for the tail light connectors. I would think it's the same for the FRS.

LG - stop light
B - ground
R - Side marker
W - RH turn signal
Y-G - LH turn signal

Thanks for the update! Pics and video look great! I laughed to myself when I read a few guys posting you wired them incorrectly as I knew they were plug & play

As far as your wiring issue goes, did you get these directly from japanparts or eBay seller ? Nevermind I just saw your post
Can you confirm they are wired incorrectly ?

Anyhow everything looks good and I look forward to getting mine installed. I already have a relay in place as I've been running aftermarket smd's front and rear to eliminate hyper flashing. So that should address that just fine.

They look great man

I bought them from an eBay seller, which is why I was ripped for about an extra $50 or so. Looking at them further, I think they cannot be fixed unless I drill into them, so I may be sending them back and getting a refund. I'm pretty t-d off, but life will go on. haha

Thanks for the info on hyper flashing. Looks like relays are cheap at least.

Hopefully you don't have the same problem... Hey anyone still want to trade for stock lights!? ha ha ha

Why can't you just rep in the connectors... Swap out the running light wire and turn signal.. Easy to do

Also I like the hyper flash.. Much more noticeable.. IMO... Most don't think so...

I just double checked mine up against your pics and they are identical as far as the wiring goes. Won't really know for sure until I hook them up. But if they light up the same, I would suspect that's how they were intended to be unfortunately
Swapping out and reconnecting a couple of wires should take car of that though

I was under the impression that hyper flashing was illegal for some reason, but i'm most likely wrong. haha I thought it would get the attention of people more effectively too.

Problem is that I don't know the wiring yet. You're right, it's probably fixable.

By watching the video, one can only assume that they weren't meant to function that way. What someone would think would be the turn signals are on when I turn my headlights/running lights on, and when I turn my signal on, my red/running light blinks. I'm pretty sure driving around with yellow tail lights at night that are only red when i'm braking would get me pulled over or worse.

They were advertised as "used" in the description but in the listing's title it clearly said "NEW! LED tail lights" blah blah blah, so I contacted the seller and he/she said that the tails were "NEW!". I took their word for it and bought them right after that, thinking that there was just a problem with their listing. Now i'm starting to think that there's something fishy going on.

Can you post a night video of the tails in action ? I wouldn't worry about it, they look new and the wiring should be an easy fix if you decide to keep them
