Are you going to smoke out your tail lights?

I have been struggling with it. I think it looks beautiful as is, the guy who did my tints offered to do the lights for $50.

Just wondering what you guys thought.

Nope. This is a trend I can safely say I'll never understand. I think it looks terrible.

Yup. I love the look of a silver car with blacked out windows and lights with black/gunmetal rims and a little carbon fiber as well.

Like this:

I want the FR-S equivalent of this look, but with different rims. I don't like the chrome lip on these. I don't really like chrome anywhere but under the hood actually. Also I would add a carbon fiber rear wing.

I don't understand why you would put you and your family in danger buy smoking or blacking them out. If someone rear ended you, it could be YOUR fault. All they would have to say is "I didn't see their taillights officer" and now it's you and your insurance. It is unsafe. Especially when the person following you is on there
Phone texting. You need MORE lights. Make that center light a brake light from hell!!!

First of all smoking comes in different shades. I agree with blacking out the lights however. If you were to smoke them a shade or two darker it wouldnt hurt the light output at all if very barely. For example, my old G5 GT had smoked tails and its lights were still VERY visable.

I'm much more privy to the idea of taking the lights apart and painting them. IMO, smoking doesn't always work with certain cars because of their body lines/colors, etc.

My last car had the smoked tail lights. I got a ticket once for my window tint and the officer at the end was like "by the way your lights in the back are illegal too". After that I drove the car for 2 years without incident, so not sure. I couldn't find any specific laws regarding rear lights and modification.

Anyway, with the BRZ I'm just going to leave it stock because I honestly think they are already ugly and not gonna try anything unless an aftermarket pair comes out that I like.
