Well, I don't want the car to *come out* with a turbo (as in, be released initially with a turbo) so I can get my modern (reliable and stiff), small and simple RWD coupe on, as well as wanting to make sure they don't do something silly like mount the engine 4 inches forward to make room for a turbo, and for the same reason I don't want a 6.
If it's sorta built on an '08+ WRX platform, the firewall in my 08 has plenty of room for the engine to move back a solid 3-4 inches, if only there wasn't a turbo there and the transmission didn't have to be forward enough to power the front wheels. I'm worried the FB will be lighter-duty and more fragile than the EJ to begin with (Which is a scary thought), so I want 2.0 over 2.5 just for the sake of having more metal in the block and smaller-bore pistons that'll be less likely to crack. I'm sure there'll eventually be a forced-induction version but for now I want an NA 2.0. Later, a rear-mounted transaxle, dual front wishbone, H6 Supra made from a beefed-up platform of this would be great but don't need it right now. As for the flat-16 on the first page, that's actually 2 flat-8's stacked on top of each other with two crankshafts linked by gears. It was an old F1 engine if I'm not mistaken and while it was cool and powerful, it was so dreadfully heavy that they were entirely uncompetitive. I think that right now between Toyota and Subaru if they really wanted to they could build a FR flat6 car to compete with 911's, perhaps it'd be a turbo H6 versus NA Carrera S type of lineup but I'm sure it could happen. Of course if you look at it right, the 370z isn't that short of a Carrera in levels of performance, if you want a less prestigious, fantastically engineered sports car. But the budget just isn't there and a lot of what makes Porsches profitable is the name on the back. |

Straight 6 means all 6 cylinders are in a single row, aka inline 6. Flat 6 means two banks horizontally opposed with 3 cylinders each, aka 6 cyl boxer engine.

Soo it looks like this poll ended with a favoring of the turbo FB20. Nice. I'm not completely surprised about the 6 banger and 2.5L options being as far behind but I figured people would enjoy a nice engine poll with the most popular options discussed.
![]() I am waiting to see what happens with the 1.6L turbo rumor, as that would be my vote. Cheers! |

honestly I prefer NA at the moment!
6 cylinder boxer would be a great option for me, more than turbo. Would even pay for it! This vacuum throttle sound when you hit the accl.pedal is so awesome!

Yes a flat six NA would be very nice in this car. That probably won't be offered at launch and maybe never. Best bet would be the STI version if they do that. Otherwise you could consider swapping motors if the flat 6 would fit. Will just have to wait and see what projects tuner shops come up with and how much $$$ one is willing to spend. |

Someone will manage to cram a flat six in im sure. This car will be tuned up and down and in circles. some mucians might even get ahold of one and tune it to a F# for all we know. I expect to see lots and lots
