I almost bought Metal cast but I went with the red VHT just because everyone seems to be using it and it is "meant" for doing this. I actually sat in Canadian tire holding the two cans and looking at the two. Every time I picked one can, my lady would ask if I was sure that's what I wanted and then BOOM process started all over again.
Ugh I hope this goes well. I will probably do the work this Friday night. (nervous!)

that's the funny part, the metalcast isn't made for this, but it works perfect. i've used vht nightshades before, it's nice stuff. someone with an 08 sti tried metalcast, since it's basically transparent red paint. two light coats and your tail light looks like OEM red.

I definitely like the OEM look more. Can someone provide a write up for that? Is it an overlay or painted over?

I'm also curious if the paint would hold up under car washes.

Im wiring the forth brake light today.

I appreciate the concern, and so does my mother. lol
I drive a grand prix and you have no idea how many people beep thinking I don't have my blinker on when I in fact do. Thankfully I always look who's behind me when I'm about to turn, drop my speed, than put my blinker on hoping and praying they see it. Dropping my speed before hand helps a lot. Sometimes if I have to stop short ill pump my brakes in hopes it grabs their attention lol its a pain but hey people are on their phones and shit, so making and break lights darker worries me.
Good luck! And pay attention as to who's behind you on the road and you'll be fine
I honestly love the way it looks! Nice job.

two light coats of the metalcast red. then a few coats of a urethane based automotive clear coat, one that is formulated for bumpers. i can't give you a product, because i had a bumper repair man spray them. he mixes his own clear. but suggests a urethane based to give the same results.
