I dont know if this was brought up but
For those who want extra power, how hard is it to install external wastegate setup on this kit, is there any room for them?
what was the highest boost you were able to hold safely with the iwg? And what psi?
Also is there a electronic or manual boost controller?

Wouldnt this need and engineers cert to be "legit" along with the emissions test?[/QUOTE]

Yes. Like I mentioned in my first post, to get an engineering cert I have to get the vehicle inspected by a registered inspector after the installation is complete.

This is WA specific but I imagine there will be something similar for other states, just haven't looked myself. Forms are in one of the attachments, steps are towards the bottom. My advice from everyone involved was get the process started asap as the approval can take some time. Oh and there's a fee schedule on there for inspections for those that were asking.

AVO, What are you doing? You're making me want this more. AVO, STAHP!

Hopefully in a few years I'll be able to afford this. Unfortunately I may have a child seat in the back by that point.

Nice post. Good to see a fellow modifier who has planned their shit together.
I previously submitted one of those PDF mod forms, usually takes about 3-4 weeks. I'm going to resubmit it due to a few more extra mods that weren't mentioned.
I personally submitted it to one of the techs at Welshpool Examination Centre(as I was expecting to receive a mod permit that day. I have permits for my other car which I had(10-11yrs ago) and all you had to do was rock up to the examination centre, wait in queue and then get one of their guys to sign it off. ) The guy I spoke to was telling me that for mod permits that you need to have an engineer sign off on the car too. (I was not discussing/intending to install the AVO Turbo at this point mind you)
The process is a lot different now - so if you wanna get some permits, just fill out the printable PDF form wait 3-4 weeks for a reply. Install the intended modifications(if you haven't already). Get the modifications signed off by a consulting engineer, then bring the car in with all the paperwork. Wait in queue.

I'm not sure about the 'emissions testing' as when I went to get the permits about 2 months ago, I never thought about the possibility of having my 86 A-V-Ohhhed

EDIT: Sorry for the thread hi-jack. Thought this might be useful for some WA modifiers who want to keep their cars 'legal'.

EDIT AGAIN: I sent in the form on the 25th Sept, Receive reply on the 8th, sooo.. less than a fortnight to get a reply. See my post for more information.

Good post.

But imo, MEH. the kit looks stock and I doubt any cop in WA will spot that.

Saw the kit at SEMA Friday, plunked down the deposit the same day.

Meeting Ross and Paul really put my mind at ease that they are doing an excellent job designing, engineering, testing, and quality-controlling this kit. The fitment on the tester FR-S was superb and looked stock. You can see the turbo if you know where to look, though!

If you're involved in a collision and you're at fault (accidents do happen) - you're screwed... hard.

Any undeclared modification results in not only your own damages being excluded - but the third party aspect of your coverage is gone as well.

Hit a super-car and you're boned.

EDIT: Though to be perfectly transparent, if I remember correctly, some of the agreed value insurers don't ask for modification details (e.g. NRMA in NSW) - so you should be okay with them.

Exactly and if the modification did not clearly contribute to the accident then I think you have a case

I think you will find that if you fail to notify the insurance company that your vehicle has been modified they are entitled to decline any claim on the basis that the contract is invalid. Fair enough too.
Good luck taking them to court to get them to pay up.

Certainly not a TD05 of any type!
I think the compressor/turbine numbers are switched around in your post, and in that case the numbers perfectly correspond to the Trust T518Z (to the decimal) which is Trust's own newer generation TD05 Hybrid

230whp is basically a 2012 WRX power so that's a lot for this little car.

I still think 250whp is the sweet spot!
We will be arranging for that.

Being based on the West Coast, all we generally have access to is 92 octane ethanol blend. We have sourced some 92 octane non-ethanol, and have already started on 93 maps based on that. Even the 92 non-ethanol "pure" gas allows it to run much richer than the 92 ethanol blends, and is giving us much better data points to base the tuning on for the other parts of the country. I'm estimating we've already picked up an additional 10-15whp from the pure gas.
