^This! You can read all of the claims that you want to, or look at the comparisons of cut open oil filters, but with the OEM filter there's no guessing whether or not it will work.
What's the bypass valve spec on the Hamp? Is there any data to show that the OEM Tokyo Roki isn't up to the task? -Dennis |

They sold us on it when we ordered an accusump, and claimed some 25Kmile life. When we tried to order a replacement element at the same time as the filter, they initially refused to sell us one because "we didn't need it". Complete crap. My motor lost a bearing on it's 2nd pass when the filter element collapsed. I do not recommend it for Subaru motors. The accusump kept things going for a little while, but unfortunately, I was doing ~185mph when it failed. Turned out to be a $15K filter. The bigger in-line filters may be better if you're going to run all the piping for them, but I still wouldn't trust it on a street car that didn't get checked every time it ran. My advice is to stick with the OEM, and change them before and after track events. Cheap insurance. Never had a problem doing that, and shouldn't have tried to fix something that wasn't broken. |

I do, but can't seem to upload at the moment. May try again later if I remember.
Was very disappointed when we rolled out the element. It was about as long as my arm, very short. I'm can't say that it necessarily caused the bearing failure, but it did waste the entire engine on something that should have been just a bearing failure. |

Also, isn't a new oil filter "slightly dirty" the moment used oil passes through it? If you can please show how, over the course of 5000 miles, 1 filter will be superior over that time frame than 2 filters. |

I'm very close to when I was planning my mid-oil-change oil filter change, so I would certainly like more info on this if anyone has it.

The 2.5K oil filter change is a great idea. Glad I stopped into a thread which I assumed was going to be otherwise filled with conjecture, opinion and loose facts. :P

I bought an HKS oil filter. It's AWESOME!! Well I hope so... I haven't done my first oil change yet cause I'm trying to figure out what oil to use but it was bout $40. Kinda pricy but HKS always puts out great products. It's also cool that u can actually see this filter upgrade sittin right there lookin all sexy in that purple finish. Ahhhh can't wait lol
