Speedometer & diameter change are about 2.8% change. It's not ideal in my POV. But still okay if no other possible choice.

205/55 R16 is closer to the stock size, based on the numbers. However not all tires with the same specs are the same size (ie. they differ between manufacturers) so YMMV.

Good deal on that. But probably not on that size.

Yes. 205/55/16 is a better candidate. And it depends on which brand too. Some brand name offered great specs.

Anyone know where I can get center caps (not hub caps) for steel wheels? JDM BRZs come with them standard. http://www.subaru.jp/brz/brz/img/ph14.jpg

Try Kijiji for some used tires.

Last week I sold my virtually brand-new set of 18" tires from my previous Genesis within days, and also managed to find a set of very slightly used Michelin Primacy Alpins in our OEM 215/45R17 size including steelies for $200!

Unless my dad can get rid of one of his vehicles, I think I may be in need of some steelies as well.

I did a little bit of research but I still don't think I know what I am doing. Costco is having a sale on steelies right now. According to their sizing guide http://www.costco.ca/wcsstore/Costco.../100018256.pdf there isn't a recommended wheel out for the FRS or the BRZ currently. I have however, heard of people just swapping other Subaru wheels for use on the FRS/BRZ so it should be the same no? The only difference I see is the hex and the bolt diameter?

Anyways, they recommend the X40867T as 16" for all the Subaru vehicles and as per their online store, http://www.costco.ca/Steel-Wheels.pr...100018256.html these things are $18.99 a piece!

In addition to that, Canadian Tire's got the Michelin Xice Xi2s on sale at around ~$130 a tire.

What do you guys think?

I have seen x40867 listed with both 57.1 mm bore and 56.1 mm bore? FRS/BRZ measures out about 55.98 so a 56.1 wheel bore would be more hub-centric than 57.1?

X40867 SUBARU SILVER WHEEL 16x6.5, 5x100, B57.1
X40867T FORESTER WHEEL 16x6.5, 5x100, B57.1

http://winter-tires.pmctire.com/enw/...1-2-5-100.tire shows 56.1 bore and 45mm offset.

I also found a reference to an x66008 steel wheel that appears to be listed with 56.1 bore? It also appears to have a 50mm offset. There appears to also be a x6608-1 which is the same but with a 42mm offset.

There also appears to be a 17" steel wheel x99150N which should fit but may be rather heavy compared to a 16" steel wheel.

I haven't been able to find anything that talks about how loose is too loose to be considered a proper hubcentric fit.

I am interested in this as well. I looked into the X40867T and they are $23.99 each for me but hell, I'm not going to bicker over $5/wheel. I was expecting to have to pay much more than that.

Nothing is listed for the BRZ but it looks like that fits all the Subaru's so it should be fine for the BRZ as well, right?

Nice find on the $130 tires as well.

Depending on what you guys say I may very well be ordering me some wheels this morning. Hope somebody in the know replies!

Damn, it was 18.99 last night. It must have gone up since.

Anyway's I'm waiting to jump as well, as soon as an expert gives their advice.

The rims don't have to be hubcentric - all that does is allow an easier alignment to the hub studs/wheel holes. So as long as you align the lugs/studs/wheel holes before torquing the lug nuts you won't have any issue.
