Your glass may be full but the driver is NOT ok. Read the previous posts. He may never wake up. And this car is NOT as safe as you imply.
Please be careful everyone, and leave racing for the track.

Crap looks like the A pillar does not hold up very good, i might just call my cage builder and ask for a full cage instead of a roll bar.....

Hope they are all ok.

I used to street race quite a bit in my younger years. I'm not saying it was smart, just saying that I did it. As I got older I did it less and less. Ironically, my cars got faster too. With my BRZ, I have definitely had more than a few people try and get me to race. I have turned them all down. I mean if you're going to risk the dangers of racing, might as well have the chance of winning. LOL.

You're right that the driver is NOT okay but at least he wasn't declared deceased at the scene. IMO, for a car that was designed to be an "affordable sports" car and is small as it is it's lucky his passengers survived at all let alone the drive albeit he's unconscious at the moment.

I'm not implying it's a SUV tank like safe but looking at past and current cars the size of the FR-S most wouldn't past current safety standards and the people in this crash would have a higher-probable chance of dying or not being able to walk away as they did.

EDIT: JUST DON'T BE STUPID WITH YOUR 25k+ INVESTMENT. ENJOY IT. DON'T DESTROY IT.

Yeah true. Also if you look carefully, driver side A-pillar was one of the first place they hit (while rolling?), so it had most forced was put. TBH, I think those cases like that, most of sports car's a-pillar would of been bent/broke... but that's just my guestimating.

As for the wreck, I hope driver & other young ppl carve this photo into your head. This isn't game if you screw up, you might die. Please keep that in mid & keep the fun stuff in the track & drive safe at public road... sound like old man, but IDC

Damn, that's crazy. I'm assuming they rolled over too. And I agree with ichitaka, keep the racing on the track. Hope everyone in the wreck is fine.

What a bunch of idiots making our insurance rates go up. If this driver gets out the hospital I'd punch him in the balls. I have zero tolerance for street racing.

no one mentions the speed they MAY have been going either, in the highway safety test videos, the car does astoundingly well, but all of those tests are at much lower speeds.

the A pillar was most likely first contact in this accident, from the looks of it doing double what we saw in the tests, also if you watch the crash test videos, the a pillar moves in one flat horizontal direction, the roof on this car was bent in at an angle towards the driver but the doors looked like they took MUCH less damage, so the car must have slide sideways into a curb that initiated the roll, and hit a tree/poll just past the curve. So ALL the weight of the car must have fallen on the a-pillar as it plowed through what ever poll/tree it hit, and continued to roll, until it was back on the street.

for a car to flip thats this low to the ground from hitting a 3-4 inch tall curb, must have been traveling at some decent speed to unsettle the center of gravity to that extent, to where it rolls

Remember guys the ring shaped design of that A-pillar is the reason the Jaws of life had to be redesigned, and on top of that the A-pillar on the FRS is also made from stronger materials than what you would normally see in a subaru, the fact that there is so much head room also probably saved this guys life, if he were in any other vehicle, the roof may not have been strong enough, and the damage could have been much worse, with him pronounced dead on the scene. If the roof collapses on a ring-shaped designed A-Pilla, the accident must have been pretty bad period

I learned to go fast in a celica, as DIM knows, we had some shitty crash testing, and we did horribly. If i had crashed ever in my celica like that, me and everyone else in the car would be DEAD. WOO 2-3 star crash ratings!

My thoughts are with the driver and passengers. I sincerely hope everyone ends up ok.

I believe there is a hyper awareness towards this car. People are just waiting to pounce when one is involved in an accident so when it happens it's shouted from the rooftops. People get it wrong every day driving all sorts of platforms. I think the scrutiny on FR-S is on the unfair side.

yeah but rich ass hats wont DD the supra and there wont be 20k of them in the first year, more like 2k of them

as a general rule of thumb, the more cars on the road the more miles they can cover, the chance of an accident is increased
