Most likely, most Subaru heads/blocks are interchangeable as long as the coolant passages line up. The passages on the FB25 motor are really small.

The FA20 uses a unique piston design due to the DI system, so something would have to be made to drop into the FA25.

The bigger issue may be the bellhousing on the transmission is the wrong shape, the FB25 is only used in AWD applications and is meant to mate to a Subaru transmission. However, you can get a new bellhousing casted fairly easily with enough money, there is a guy on NASIOC that does them.

Here is another thread on the topic:

I wish they had made the FA20 a 2.5 by boring out the cylinders instead of trying to squeeze 200 hp out of the 2.0 by using a high compression ratio and sacrificing all the torque.

2.5 engine with 200 hp and 190 tq would make me very happy!

Can hardly say they "sacrificed" torque to get 200hp when the FA20 has the most torque... of any na 2.0L. And larger bores = less efficient combustion so less hp per liter as you try to scale it up. Best hp per liter is found at 0.5L or less per cylinder.

You want more liters while keeping 100hp per liter, you need more cylinders. And this deals purely for NA.

Except for the F20...but close enough.

F20 makes 140, but not until around 6500. It's terrible down low. But a very fun car. My friend has one. Like it better than the F22.

Edit
F20c was rated at 152 tq. Tho that was before the new standard. But I accept it.

I had an 02 S2K before this, and it was a dog down low compared to my FRS.

OK guys,

Time to be official about this - we will release final details, shipping dates, availability, and power figures in America on American pump gas (91, 92, 93) at SEMA.

While we'll certainly do race gas/e85 dyno testing at some point, we fully realize that the majority of customers will be running this as a daily driver on pump gas. So power figures will be based on that. All kits will have full install instructions, and one of the reasons I'll be personally installing the kit on my own car, so we can handle tech support - like we have for the last 10 years on the Impreza and Legacy turbo kits.

Will this kit include everything needed (aside from fine tuning obviously an the license) to run this kit relatively reliably? In other threads I've been seeing talk about clutch slippage approaching the power levels you are at.
