it comes down to...

when I was shopping for my previous car (IS350) I wanted black. This was before they were commonplace, right around its release. Placed a deposit down for one and waited. A silver one came in, I was offered a test drive. I did and faced with the prospect of waiting several more months, I caved and bought it. Don't regret it at all, still love the silver color.

But this time around for the BRZ, I was really torn between SWP and WRB. Really couldn't make up my mind on either one, loved both of them just as much. In the end I asked my wife and other family, and they all said blue over white. It's a tough call when both are colors you like.

In case it's not obvious, I ordered the blue, and waited two more months for it instead of buying the white that was available.

I declined. And I like WRB. But I'm willing to wait (what will probably be three months or more) for CBS.
After my order was cancelled I scoured the east coast for a WRB 6mt. At that point it was no longer an issue whether the car was Limited or Premium ... I wanted WRB and I wanted 6mt.

WRB, or nothing! I'm waiting longer for the color me and the wife wanted.

Exactly. The point of paying for a brand new car is to have it exactly as you want it. I almost settled for a black one when I really wanted DGM and am glad I made the decision to wait.

I ordered a WRB because I love the color, then a red BRZ showed up and I bought it. Although WRB was my number 1 choice, I must admit there are somedays I wonder to myself why I settle for the red instead of the blue.

The reason is because Scion already has a red but they dont have a color that's WRB or similar(Except for that dark blue color of course). Which wouldve made the WRB BRZ more Subaru and more unique and recognizable. I dont know if im making any sense but it's sort of those things where it gets in your head sometimes after you think you made a good decision but wonder if you really did. lol

PS
I ♥ my Subaru

I've always loved red cars, so it was worth waiting 4 months. There's nothing worse than wishing you had the color of your choice IMO.

I called my broker and told him to source me a car.

He asked what colour and I replied, "I don't care. Anything, except black.".

When I got my STi in 2004, I wanted WRB. There were two dealerships within 20 miles. One had a WRB along with several other colors, and the other had a Silver (PSM). Dealer A wanted $2500 premium for WRB, and I just couldn't pay that for it. I still own the STi, and it's still silver. Some days the silver bugs me more than others, but it still bugs me. Took the joy out of wash and wax, because you could barely tell a difference. When you get the WRB clean, it beams. Under street lights, it pops.

The red would be my 2nd choice, but when it came time to get a BRZ, the only choice was WRB. That's just because of 8 years of wanting. Wound up at a dealership 700 miles away to get the car I wanted without any BS.

Chicks dig WRB. Gals that are too young for me fawn over the car's color daily. I can't go anywhere without being complemented. It's rough, but I'm learning to live with it.

EDIT: Just to be clear, my point is to "Get what YOU want." Only you can know how important a color will be for you. Don't spend almost $30K on something you will regret, especially if you plan to keep it for a while.

I have not seen a red FRS or BRZ in person, but base on the pictures I agree with you--red suits the FRS better. I saw both in white and the color suits the FRS better as well.

To op, WRB is a very unique color. Yes, the majority of BRZ buyers opted for WRB which might give the impression that the color is no longer special. However, the FRS/BRZ is a car sold in a niche market and given how the 86 population will be smaller compared to the millions of other economy cars on the road, a WRB will still be a rare sight. You may think you see it all the time but, that is because the color pops. I bet many of us do not take notice of all the white Camrys or Accords driving around. You will see that WRB from several miles away.

Still, choose the color that you really want. It was WRB or nothing at all for me.

It's important enough to me that I will only get the one I want. But for me since I already have a car I would rather wait X amount of time for my color to be available than pay X extra to have the color I want RIGHT NOW.

But yea, buying a luxury item I'd never settle for something I didn't want.

As for red, I think it looks stunning in person when clean. But silver is my color

I got the color/trim I wanted but I chose the 3rd invisible option: order the car the way I want and wait for it
