I believe their issue is with the maf placement. The maf is reading cooler air than is actually going into the engine. Phill's turbo (8 psi) is running his maf in the longest straight section before the throttle body. This is the best placement for maf readings. The most important is temperature post-intercooler but also any leaks and vented air will not interfere with the reading.

Hi All

Im Ross from AVO japan Paul is still on the road on the way back from 86fest

I said on the Facebook MAP Sensor not MAF Sensor. The stock MAP sensor (Manifold Pressure Sensor) Stops reading at 5psi (.35 Bar) this is no problem for the people who will run up to 5 PSI boost, over this the load deflection dose not calculate correctly. We will be testing a higher pressure MAP sensor (Manifold Pressure Sensor) soon.

Regarding the Oil Temp I have done over 500km at the track in NA form over this summer session the last time it was 38c we had a 5 Lap sprit race the water and oil temp did not get over 100c in the race it spiked a bit as it come back in the pits but all cars will after being thrashed for 5 Laps. What we seen in the past with our Time attack Race Car and the D1 86 Drift car we built is after 7000 RPM the Water pump gets cavitation this cavitation air causes the exhaust head to get hot this will increase the water and oil temp and cause detonation. This is Why we never up the RPM limit on Subaru even our Race Car we try for peak toque always. With the Turbo Fitted we will keep a close eye on the water and oil temp and let you know what we find. I hope to be testing at the track on the 16th off this month.

The next step this week for the AVO BRZ will be Fuel System testing to see how reliable the fuel system is for the 5 PSI boost.

We will test the fuel pump flow in the car and put a external scope to test the injector duty cycle on the direct and port Injectors. There is just not enough information on the logging to get the full information we are after.

The turbo kit production run has started at the factory so please give Paul a few days to get back on his feet after the 2600 mile drive and he will have more information for you on this

Thanks for your support

Regards Ross Wilson

I saw you had put MAP sensor i don't know why i didn't correct that earlier, working in a parts dept i have people get them confused all the time. I know some people are interested in the exhaust too if you have any info on that.

So if the water pump cavitates around 7k, run a larger pulley and push the engine to 8k. Perhaps Suby was wise here and developed a more efficient pump.

If not, there is a pretty easy way to modify the factory pump to suit higher rpm use while still maintaining good flow at lower rpm. But the good low-end approach is nice and will provide a very fun, responsive, and hopefully reliable setup. 300whp from a t25 size turbo is a riot. Now, I'm not sure if this kit will nail that on pump gas, but having a 300whp powerband makes this car really quick. Deceivingly quick when the powerband starts under 3k rpm and pulls to 7500-8000.

I think Don @ AP has been running his turbo kit to 9000RPM regularly... I haven't heard of him modifying the stock pump at all....

But to be honest, his car doesn't see long periods at that rpm. Drag racing can cause water pump cavitation too, but you may not see it because of the short burst of speed. Holding that engine at over 7000rpm for extended periods will show cavitation, but you won't necessarily see that in drag racing conditions.

Well, as you can guess the general consensus in the forum is saftey and reliability as we will be foregoing our warranties. With that said... I"m in no hurry here in CA.
