I just swapped mine with the BRZ part. It really just slides right off of the handle once you lift the base up. Great part and service from SubaruOnlineParts. I am not the best with sewing and I am afraid I would have ruined my original part. After seeing it installed, it amazes me that this was not the standard for ALL models. it just goes with the other red stitching in the car. Small subtle detail, but makes a nice difference.

I never really noticed. I think if it really bothered me that the stitching didn't match, I would just use a black Sharpie to cover the other red stitching. Then all the stitching would be black and I would no longer be bothered!

Seriously though, I think your mod looks really good.

I have the boot, but not the handle. How much was that?

It was like $115 from subarupartsonline. I was just going to get the boot until I found out the handle also is leather wrapped with red stitching. Btw it's that much because it's the whole ebrake assembly. Can't just twist off the handles like the shift knob...sucks lol

I like the handle. I checked the website and they are out of stock until Oct. I'll just wait on both the boot and the handle. However I did buy the auto dimming rear view with homelink.

Done. I think it'd be good to find a thread that has nylon or polyester because this cotton thread looks more fiberous than the other stitching. Other than that though, looks much better than the black.

Doing mine now.

The part against the driver seat has to pull straight up not towards the seat then up. I just snapped my two tabs that hooks it in. Trying a different thread that looks to be a perfect match.

Plastic welding to the rescue! Trick my friend showed me when repairing plastic body panels on motorcycles. Soldering iron and melt zip ties as the material. Usually stronger than stock yet still a little flexible
