Red stitching E-Brake

3 Attachment(s)
I noticed that the only thing that didnt red stitching in the car was the e-brake so instead of spending money on an e-break boot just to match the interior i would rather use that money on something else on the car so i went to Joann Fabrics here in the bay but you can go any fabric store.

get a ball of Pearl cotton ball by DMC, thread size 8 color 321 and a set of needle to go with it..

removing the boot is easy, just take off the shifter boot and bezel by pulling straight up then once removed, pull the e-break boot up and it will pop right out.

when you stitch start at the bottom end of the boot working your way towards the other end.. best if you know how to straight stitch. I had my wife stitch it for me, actually she wanted to.. hehehe

I was actually thinking of doing the same exact thing. Why spend hundreds on a boot with red stitching when you can do it yourself? haha. Awesome job dude!!

Definitely they way I would have gone had I not got mine in a different manner.

By the way though, my understanding is the boot is well under $100 if you buy it from Subaru.

I bought the BRZ boot but can't figure how it comes off the ebrake. It doesn't slide over the handle - have to remove it all? Or did you sew it still attached but loose? Thx!!

It slides over the handle. Pull harder, lol.

pull it straight up (the part thats attached to the console) and once its loose slide the boot off the handle..

Boot (at neck) seems narrower than the ebrake handle - or am I supposed to just force/stretch it a bit and get it off?

Jeff Lange 07-23-2012 10:37 PM

It will pull over. That's how it was installed. I've done it, it pulls off with relative ease.

yeah just like what Jeff said.. slide it out

Khyron686 07-24-2012 11:55 PM

Ok yah that was easy once the shift boot is up. I'm used to VW where you literally have to unbolt the entire dash to get the center console up. Expensive, but looks so much better with red stitching. Don't mind the actual handle not being stitched.

phenom86 07-25-2012 12:13 PM

Khyron686 did you stitch yours already?

Khyron686 07-25-2012 01:18 PM

I bought the BRZ boot. I can barely tie my shoes.
