I do not mean this only for the FRS, but for the GT86 and BRZ as well. Whats the point?
Fun.

Even drag racing has both ET and speed.
that just seems entirely arbitrary. thats all. i could say fast is time and quick is mph and how do you argue that? fast and quick are synonyms. there is absolutely no rationale behind the perceived difference as far as i can tell.

Garage
the point of this car is driving a day or two then having a check engine light flash then having to wait a month for repairs

it was to recapture the lost market segment, most likely. Rejuvenate the brand and all that. They just happened to make a pretty competent affordable sports car while they were at it.

I think the point of it was to develop an affordable car that is fun to drive. Face it, most affordable and economical cars are soul crushing appliances.

You're wrong about "made for the auto enthusiastic." I don't call this car "made for the auto enthusiastic," I call S2k, Elise, & GT3 a cars that are "made for the auto enthusiastic." They have sacrificed A LOT of things to make those are a truly "made for the auto enthusiastic."

Yes, 86 is a simple old formula: Lightweight, RWD & cheap. BUT at the same time this 86 was to bring ppl into auto world, specially young ppl. It's not another A to B sedan car, it's makes you want to drive extra mile cuz it fun to drive. You want to learn about this car cuz it looks so cool!

Tada-san could of made another +300hp sports car (which he have quoted before). But those cars cost arm & leg for... which he wasn't aiming to do. Here's one of my all time fav quote Tada-san stated:

“Manufacturers like to blame young people for having no interest in cars. Maybe we should blame ourselves. Manufacturers provided boring cars and focused on older people, because this is where the money is. We have abandoned young people.”

He fought every angle, pointed fingers, & called a lot of thing to bring this car to real life (& it not joke), so he can bring young ppl into car world. Not only young ppl, but also old ppl that used to be into cars, ladies that likes to drive around and travel different places, & even kids that don't know much about cars. EVERYONE!

For me, point of this car is a passion. Just like the theme for this car.
"Built by passion, not by committee"
Each owner of 86 may have different "passion" for this car: Audio, grip, drift, drag, travel, DD, whatever it is... & that's all it matter. Not boring A to B car same old cars, but want to put some effort/passion into it.

The "quick" "fast" argument is dumb. Everyone but the troll understands it.

The the car is built for people to enjoy driving. It delivers. It's so much fun to drive.

I think that it just says simpler is better, it is a very basic car that most car reviewers enjoy even if it has half the horsepower of most competitors...

You can drive this car at 100% more often

You cant really do that with a 500hp mustang

Valid Explanation by anyone "quick but not fast" OR "fast but not quick" does the meaning of these words (QUICK & FAST) change when it is used car-cabulary?

Simple. Spiritual AE86 successor. Low weight, low power - great handling and affordable.

It's whatever you want it to be .. auto-x .. drifting .. touge driving and it's very accessible. It rises above expectations and is joyful to own.

Not a hard question to answer.
