flats, flats, flats!!

incidentally, I never learned to walk in heels until my MT car died and I had to drive AT for a few years. If I get a MT BRZ/FRS, I will most definitely keep a pair of driving shoes (flats!) in the car for the rare occasion I need to dress up.

On another side note, does any one remember seeing the BMW commercial (circa 2005ish) showing a woman getting dressed for work wearing heels, walking to the garage, removing the left shoe and sawing off the heel (huh, why?!) prior to sitting in her car and clutching (ahh, got it!)? Brilliant marketing, made me want to buy 330 right then and there.

I drive perfectly fine with Flip flips, shoes, and combat boots. If you have very long feet(More than 14), I wouldnt recommend using flip flop for driving unless you really know how to do it. I wear size 10 and sometimes I have to lift my feet up a little more high to avoid flippies from getting stuck in carpet when pressing the clutch. No biggie, its second nature to me now

I actually heel/toed yesterday wearing flip-flops. I think these helped: http://www.srpracing.com/pd_brz_racing_pedals.cfm

Or maybe because when I drive in flip-flops I don't rest my heel on the floor and pivot my ankle - instead the motion requires more calf muscle and upper leg movement. That leaves me heel free to blip the gas.

I was waiting for someone to post that! I believe that the "floppers" are the same as those who would wear them while riding a motorcycle. Granted, a cage (automobile for you non riders) will not shear your toes off in the event of a wreck.

It makes sense to me that if one will not wear proper footware, then barefoot would be a better option for the sake of control. I find it funny that several people have basically stated (attempting to legitimize) "flop driving" requires a bit of practice. "how many wrecks are ok before the technique is mastered?"

My wife wears heels everyday and she has already worn a hole in the carpet where her heel rests on the bulge under the throttle. Any other ladies have this problem? Any suggestions for reinforcing the area? Subaru are replacing the carpet, but i dont want to have the same issue again. The weathertech mats seem to cover the area in question ok, but my wife would like to keep a stock look.

Ive also thought about securing a small trimmed piece of another similarly colored floormat to that part, something that could be periodically removed and replaaced as it wears through.

Any other suggestions are good, and anything about my wife needing to wear different shoes or no shoes at all will fall on deaf ears and is not helpful.

Take da flip flop off and drive barefoot! It's better since you can really feel the engagement of the clutch when shifting

I don't have a floor in mine. I pick the car up with my legs in the middle and hoof it.

I can drive okay with flip flops, but not great. I love driving with chucks, I can feel everything, but hate driving with gym shoes too much padding.

sekrit is just to practice with it lol..

I'm usually in Pumas, combat boots or flip flops. Sometimes running shoes. I've never had any problems, aside from having to adjust how I let the clutch out based on sole thickness. I even heel-toe in flip flops, shrugs. I've seen guys run their cars at the track in sandals but this is Arkansas afterall lol
