I don't think it rattles much. I have heard the door speaker and rear deck. Someone will find the source and it will be an easy fix. I'm just waiting for winter to arrive and we'll see how the cold effects things.

What i dont understand is how some idiots try to justify and defend a flaw that shouldn't be there in the first place. It's like watching a kindergarten lawyer in action.

This^^ this car may not be a financial investment but it is a personal investment. When you spend thousands on something, you would expect a better build quality. And yes I'm still getting one! lol

What does it tell them that you know of these issues yet still buy the car?

I dont think that these issues are happening with every 86/BRZ. It'll probably be another year before I get my car. I can only hope that I won't get one with problems. But I'm not going to cancel my order based on what I'm reading.

Every car has flaws regardless of price and each car is unique regardless of target build quality... It all boils down to:
  1. Whether the flaws are consistent with different VINS, which shows a design/manufacturing problem that the dealer needs to fix
  2. Whether you notice the flaws or not. Many will go completely unnoticed.
  3. If it bugs you enough to do anything about it (take it to the dealer or fix it yourself)
While I wouldn't consider mine a rattle trap, I can definitely tell that there is very little, if any, sound dampening and it is very easy to hear the slightest rattle because of this. Some sound frequencies originating outside the car actually sound louder IN the FRS vs outside! While i wish sound dampening would have been done from the factory, I believe i will enjoy the end result more after applying fatmat myself and seeing (hearing) the difference. It helps make the car "mine". As far as fixing the rattles at the source, again I would encourage those that have gone the DIY route to start a thread in the DIY section so the rest of us can "follow along" and do it ourselves if we choose to. Tons of great ideas in there...

So far my BRZ, VIN 11XX (4100 miles) is problem free. I've not one of the many issues that have cropped up. I'm holding my breath that I make through the next several thousand miles problem free.

I feel bad for those who have had troubles with their BRZ/FR-S's.

I have a rattle from my glovebox. The glovebox isn't sitting flush.
I will take in to the dealership soon enough.

Actually I respectfully disagree, when I see this car, I see a luxury, expensive sports car, kinda like how everybody asking if my car is a Maserati, but that's not really what we get.

When I remember how much I paid and that's it really just a scion, it doesn't bother as me much because all think about is how well the car is driving when i'm in it

And luckily for me, the rattles are one of those issues that I haven't gotten yet *knock on wood*

Mine was like that...use both hands at each corner and press, it will snap close at both corners.

I meant that it is not going to go under the sea or fly at Mach speeds, the car that comes out of the factory has been built for roughly the same exact conditions as delivery location so the rattle situation can only go south.

No rattles in mine yet, I drive quite a bit of rough road every day as well. If it did, I would take it in to the dealer to get it fixed/reported if it was something I could not fix myself.

I actually am part of that "track/autocross/racing car" percentage and I still feel we should be a long ways from rattles appearing.
The question is whether this (rattles) is a design defect or something that is actually part of the design (low sound deadening/rubber to keep weight down).

Also I think some people are overly sensitive to little, normal, noises this car makes here and there because its brand new
