that we its factory and we dont have to go through all the trouble of the upgrades ect we went to do to the dash and what not .... or do we wait it out and see wait it out and see what next model year holds...

I will go ahead and say I have seen many jobs where Best Buy has absolutely destroyed vehicles and left the customers hanging, although sometime they will foot the bill. For example I currently have a Ford Lightning in my shop that Best Buy installed a remote start and alarm in and the vehicle CAUGHT ON FIRE, the entire underside of the dash on the drivers side was melted away. It caused around 7k in damages, and best buy is paying 2k. I would NEVER trust a vehicle to them. Period.

About small shops, my shop has been in business for almost 45 years and we carry a lifetime warranty. If we damage a vehicle we will pay for it. This has happened before, nobody's perfect. For example one of our installers had a brain fart and broke a Porsche door handle, we ordered a replacement and went to the customers house to replace it for him, no charge to the customer, but he did give us some beer .

I am not saying all small shops will be this helpful, but if you find a good shop, they will be 1,000,000 times better than a place like best buy.

Well, im saving my money up for now. So, i will prob have to wait and get either a 2014 or 2015 year model. Hopefully they give us more options with later models, but either way, im getting the push button start and a nice head unit.

Im sure there is a shop near you with a solid reputation. Honestly if I were you I would ask around at high end dealerships and forums. It wont be as cheap as Best Buy though, I believe they still offer free (if not very cheap) installs for products bought from them, where my shop charges $100/hour +full MSRP on products, but it is worth it when you have guys installing things on your car that have been doing similar work for most of their lives as opposed to high school/inexperienced installers at Best Buy.

Either way for many basic things like speakers and radios on basic cars, best buy will probably do just fine, but something like retrofitting a push button start and keyless entry on a car with very little information available, no way in hell I would trust them.

I also have a side project to add the BRZ trunk switch to trunk lid and tap it into the dash switch. I hate having to open the door if I don't have my key on me. Plus with the Advanced key kit when I walk up to it I will be able to open it from the external switch.

Just a thought, but couldn't the start button be wired to work with a keyed setup?

Like, put the key in the ignition position, push button, car starts, kind of thing?

I wouldn't mind a push button starter one bit (Especially one that looks like it was made to be there since it sort of was), but the whole keyless thing seems like a pretty intensive/expensive retrofit.

I would most certainly NOT take my car to best buy to have work done. I work for best buy and I am saying that haha!

Its hit or miss though, some installers are quite good, one of my best friends used to be an installer for best buy and he could do anything and more, but the other installer at the same location was terrible, wouldn't let him near a car of mine or any one I know!

With that being said it isn't worth taking the risk.
