Definitely gonna keep mine for the long haul. I'm hoping I won't have to make it my daily driver for the winter so I can keep the mileage to under 10k per year, and keep it in tip top shape for at least a decade!

after that, the stealership offering it will be gone, and with it,

I would like to keep mine for a long while. I've always had a problem holding on to cars though. I think 3 years is the longest I"ve been able to keep one.

Does Toyota offer a lifetime powertrain warranty on these? Does Subaru ?

If it is from any other place it probably isn't worth the power its written on. It will cost more than the car is worth to have a lawyer enforce the "warranty" by the time you need it.

Even when F*rd had 100k mile powertrain warranties they were pretty useless unless you paid the stealership for every stupid scheduled maintenance. You couldn't change your own oil, etc. Very few people actually came out ahead, like negligible amount of people (most were part of the F*rd organization.) Now with logs in the ECU tracking how fast you go, redline, etc.

When you really look at a "power train warranty" what it comes down to is if there is a design flaw (like a 95-99 Mistu Eclipse) you are pretty much going to have to deal with it on your own. If there isn't a design flaw you didn't need the powertrain warranty to begin with.

IMHO the only long term warrantie long worth the cost are the emmsions warranties.

Just saying, take care of your FT86/BRZ/FRS instead of banking on a piece of paper.

Keeping it for 3 years. Then upgrade to a "Supra" (if it happens and is under 100k) or else a Cayman will have to do

"stealership" gives the warranty with purchase,if they "croak" goodbye warranty.
i have not looked into it,but i'll bet it it is only vaild IF the car is serviced at THAT particular
dealer chain.

This car will be in the classic collection. One of the best design and engineering car on the street today. Just drive it to the max then get another last model special edition and garage it like Ferarri

Until it dies. Then I'll put another engine in, and maybe until it dies again.

In California "lifetime warranty" = 7 years typically.

No way I'd pay this much for a car and search as long as I did if this car wasn't everything I wanted.

I kinda see my FR-S as take two of the Miata I had for 2 and a half years. I sold it a couple months ago after taking it from stock to unrecognizable. When I moved back from Guam and sold the Miata I thought of all the plans for it that had gone unfulfilled. I kept telling myself if I had like another couple months, another year....

Well, I got at least 6 with the FR-S, so no problems with that here. lol
